I found the VIN using a Plate to VIN decoder. WDBEA36E8PB891465

I believe that this was previously owned by Hatband and Bob996.

Great detective work - thanks! They also did a facelift, including a new hood, and incorrect headlights.

In the 2 small pics it looks like 040 black but it's hard to say. Need to find out if there was a color change along with the body work and repaint...

Hi, Eric. Haven't heard from you in a while. Salvage title will mean different things to different people. Seeing the pics of the damage is enlightening. A Hard hit. If the repair work was done properly and this was a previously well maintained car I would consider it a good buy. Without maintenance info and repair knowledge it's difficult to say. The car will scare collectors and perfectionists however if the repairs are correct and it needs $5000 - 7000 in maintenance it's still a car with relatively low miles in very good cosmetic shape. IMO, many folks fixate on resale, investment opportunity, and even automotive peer pressure when evaluating cars. I understand. If this car drives fine and repairs were correct someone can own a 500E for cheap, and it will never be worth less than $10,000. The wheels may be worth $1500 alone. It's likely my passion for these cars may be over the top compared to some others here.

Yes, prevailing logic/experience would lead to pessimism, I agree. The fact that someone took it on with a black car is some hope.
