OH GEEZ this car is *that* car?




I have walked by this car in my neighborhood for many many many many many years, always street parked right there. It must have been under the care of the second 19.5-year owner when I was walking by it. There are also two 80s Jeep Grand Wagoneers parked nearby, perhaps the same owner ..... they are also in similar states of decay.....

Anyways I walked by this 500E many times. It was also often under a car cover. Those who are in my neighborhood recognize that we are very close to the beach, and it is often foggy here in the mornings, so there is lots of moisture/wetness around in the AM.
In my mind I've always written off this car because I had always imagined lots of corrosion in unseen places, but perhaps I am totally wrong!

This is my car.. I purchased the car from a third party here in Burlingame. I never met the seller, only spoke with him on the phone to insure I got the service records with the car. Those pictures explain a lot regarding this cars past. Seems like he only drove it a handful of times in the last 5 years and had it parked outside, hence why I had to respray the front as the clear coat was gone and replace the tires due to rot.

When I got it the check engine light was on due to a crank shaft sensor, needed brakes and tires, strut braces, climate was inoperative and a bunch of little things needed attention. The car cleaned up well all things considering. I didn't know much about these cars before buying it and was an impulse buy. I know now I overpaid but was going by the ownership and service history.

I believe the car is mechanically good, I did everything recommended by my mechanic and have put a few miles on it since smogging it. Selling it because I prefer my Mercedes with 12cylinders and about 160k less miles.

1993 black/grey interior 500E. It's my second 500E and I can't keep away from buying them after I sell them! Go figure! Kids are going old and the lack of parking space in the house is forcing me to sell this one. 194,000 miles on it. It drives really well and for the mileage it also looks pretty good.

Also curious to know if there is data to support the small asking price bump relative to your purchase 6 months ago? What mechanically/cosmetically have you addressed since purchasing?

The information you provided is correct. I do think I underpaid at 26.6 and I also believe that at 29K the car is also priced right and fair. But happy to entertain offers. I’ll go CL as soon as I have time to put an ad together.
