Im in contact with owner and i will send my inspector to check the car. It is a bit wierd that car with 49.000km is repainted…

As @masakrer commented, it seems that mileage is tempered with!
@masakrer can you tell on which date car had 153191km?

I will check in new year.
Eva is great old database with warranty repairs records.
i think you bought 2 x E60 lately are planning to buy another one?

Yes, i have two but with original documented mileage…but this one will have to be inspected thorough. I dont like tampering with mileage…

If you considering this car for yourself doesn’t really matter that has been clocked .
As long as you happy with condition..
Resale value is different story as these days you can type the vin number in google search and will bring you all the information about the car

It looks like headlight lenses are not original E500 “chromed” lenses, right?
Can't tell for sure from the couple of small photos posted above. Need a better, close-up picture of the headlight(s).

:124:

I believe it was in 2001.
I can check exactly
Most cars imported to Japan were clocked, as Japanese would never buy high mileage vehicles
a lot of German car dealers did this back in those days
You are correct on that one. I know of German dealers who gave cars a "haircut" when shipping to Japan.

Hi, well just to inform that the seller abruptly cut off communication with me after we exchanged just few messages in last two weeks.

My first question was why the car was painted if it has only 49,000 km and the answer was that it had small scratches from use.
After that, I sent him a document from 2001 where it says that the car had 150,000 km in 2001 and asked how it is that it now has 49,000 km, he didn't know how to answer me, he said he bought the car 5 years ago and only drove 500 km with it. I guess he bought it with 49.000km on odometer.

We agreed that I would send my inspector to inspect the car, the inspector was supposed to go to him next week.
That deal stood until this morning.

I must emphasize that the seller is always kind and that he answered all the questions and that he sells a lot of old cars...and always says "dear" when we communicate, I assume that this is the friar they often use in Dubai.

But a strange situation happened this morning.
So this morning the seller sent me a message and a video of his car and to watch the video to the end. It is a video in which ceramic protection is applied to a car, an advertising video. Nice video. I guess he wanted to show me how well the car is protected.
But after watching the video I was sure that the headlights were not chrome E500 lights...I asked him why the headlights were not E500 original lights...the quick answer was that the car was sold and that he was glad we talked, with that I was no longer "Dear" but "Bro".
I think he got angry at my question😂
If I'm wrong and the car is really sold, and if the buyer is from the forum, I hope the buyer will give a little more information.

But my instinct tells me that the seller got mad and cut me off because apparently he didn't have an answer to some questions…

I want to thank @masakrer for provided information and also everybody on this forum. This is why it is good ti have threds like this about the cars.

I still hope that seller will get back to me, i can live with car being painted(usually its a bad paint job bu i can fix it), even non original headlights doesnt nececary mean that car was in accident. The thing that bothers ne the most is the non original mileage, i hate when people roll back odometer. In my country its against the law and i think that is misleading and not fair! Thats why all my cars have well documented history…
