1994 E60 AMG, Pearl Black/Black, TMU, Japan auction

Im putting it here for history records!

The auction is over and car is sold for around 87.000€! The car is in bad shape, my inspector found a lots of problems but no rust so i hoped for a good project car and I was bidding till 75.000€ but that was max. The car looks buch better in auction card report than in reality!
Speedo shows 68.000km but that is not original 100%, we estimated true km would be around 200.000-250.000km.

It needs new paintjob cuz clearcoat is peeling off, car sits too low cuz SLS is dead, on the rims clearcoat is peeling off, rear window glass is delaminating…it seems that car was stored outside for a long time. There is smell of burning coolant when engine running, not sure is gearbox ok, roof lining is sagging. There is AMG body kit but with chrome parts installed, E60 never came with body kit so that was done after but chrome parts dont go on AMG body kit. Somebody installed aftermerket radio and amps, not functional. Headlights are full of water and need to be replaced. Rear muffler is not original. Pillars peeling off, shift knob not original, speedo dot deasise. Paint thickness mesurement show there was damage around rear stop light on one side.

My highest bet was 75.000€ cuz i would need to invest at least, best case scenario 20.000€, and there are the cost of shipping from Japan (10.000€ with all fees and costs) and import in EU(4-5k€) so fot total of 110.000-120.000€ is ok but i was overbid!

Ill rather take car with 250.000km that has been well maintained and in garage than this for my collection, but i did hoped to try to fix it and resell…

I would be worried about burning coolant smell while engine running.if there was coolant entering combustion chamber it would produce a lot of smoke while running. That would be expensive fix.

Looks very nice but there’s no pictures of the engine engraving or plaque showing it’s a real 6.0. They probably spent nice coin on paint and detailing (hopefully tires).. Wonder what else they brought up to spec..
