Went from Germany to Japan to CT with registration in MT for tax avoision. As noted in the comments, it has Japan/LHT headlights, but thankfully since these are pedestrian 124 lights it won't cost >€5k to get correct ones installed. Appears to have a new upper harness which is good (NLA), but likely zero records/history.

Neat car, but desperately needs either a front bumper filler panel, or a Euro-style plate mounted, to not look terrible. The gaping hole in the middle is just an eyesore.

Someone posted a comment asking why the oil pressure went to 2 bar with the key on and engine off, and the comment was censored / moderated / whatever...

Probably just needs a new pressure sensor, guess we'll see if anyone else notices.

And, no comment from the seller about this car coming from Japan. Why the lack of transparency?

Great looking coupe. One of my favorite MB body styles. My rankings "today", no.1 is 190e, no. 2 is the W124 Coupe, no. 3 is the W124 .036, no. 4 is the W126 coupe.

@Goran124 - I assume you also saw the oil pressure gauge not working properly. Pretty likely to be a simple fix, either the wiring harness or the sending unit, but it's a shame the owner has had the car 4 years and never fixed this. Makes you wonder what else wasn't taken care of.

The biggest problem there is no history and it is repainted! It looks good but live viewing is best inspection. I have two w124 E36 AMG coupe, one is RHD, and both are repainted…still searching for one with original colour😁

Instantly reminded me of that blue over blue 6.0 widebody C124.

Here is my take on the interior:
- Rear seats have lots of marks
- Sun visors sagging
- Gearshift wood panel is cracking
- Cluster is riddled with dots
- Driver seat left bolster wear

I couldn't find much else. I didn't love the undercarriage but overall the car presents well and if acquired by the right hands, it can be easily perfected.

Goran i'm surprised you're still bidding given all of the issues you have with it, or is that a tactic to keep the price affordable ;)😜

It looks like a lovely car. Little bit of cleanup and she should be good to go. The infamous 500eboard punchlist is not as robust as I usually see with some other cars.

I have my limit for that car, we will se how it goes…
Anybody know how much is the cost of transporting the car to Europe from US?

Interesting bidding here. #1 and #2 were going at it pretty good from mid-40's to mid-50's, until HQ509 did a mice-drop (sic) $70k bid.

Bidders 3-5 were all in the high 30k to mid 40k range which might be a better estimate of market value. For the same money I'd rather have an 036, but collectors gonna collect, I guess.

$70,000 bid placed by HQ509 - Winner
$56,000 bid placed by bt87cab
$46,500 bid placed by pmobley
$41,250 bid placed by merclover
$37,360 bid placed by SIMPN2
$36,363 bid placed by ReimelMC

 :yayo:

I bet that last bet was some profile owned by the site or their bot!

BaT is rigged 100%!
You have to be carefull that you don't accidentally dare to post a bad comment about a car, because then the admins will spit on you in the comments and delete your completely normal comments! I guess it's normal that everyone can comment and point out the defects they see on the car without the comments being deleted!

they deleted more than half the comments I wanted to post!

Yep, and that is why GSXR stopped commenting on BaHaT auctions. Too much moderation / flagging / deleting of comments.

GSXR also stopped commenting on Cars & Bids for the same reason.

Censorship has gone insane on both of those platforms.

Reminds me of this auction. Go to the comments and look at SeanySean's bids. The guy raises the auction ~$20k then loses to a small raise and disappears without even a comment.

SeanySean did win a set of wheels but yea, very suspect! the shill bidding and disappearing act makes a lot of sense that its an admin pushing above a reserve...

i had similar issue w/ tinashaf964 on this:

He did win the wheels, but maybe he is a friend of a friend who also likes Mercedes...

Regarding the Porsche -- Losing over $2k? Why raise to your ceiling then give up? Stupid as hell.

I don't think it is an admin, rather a friend who can easily transfer the car back to the owner if it doesn't sell to their expectations. I think that is why you sometimes see won auction cars on random marketplaces, but not back on the auction website where they sold so well.

Hey, call me a conspiracist, I don't mind.

My opinion is that the “reserved” price for this blue E36 coupe was 70,000 and that's why it went like that in the end.
So, in the end, bt87cab and hq509 were raising the price by $300 each and reached $56,000 and then suddenly hq509 dropped $70,000 bid 😂
And if you're blind, you'll see that it doesn't make sense because bt87cab would give up at any moment...
In my opinion, it's a complete set-up!

I wouldnt be surprised that in few months that car goes on auction agan with explanation that winner didnt pay for the car in time!

Alright, I’ve finally been drawn in to sign up…

I am, as my username states, BT87Cab. Same one on BAT, same Pelican Forums. I’m real, not a shill bidder. I believe HQ is as well.

I think one thing people forget, market values are one thing, but there’s also a personal or individual value too. What it’s worth to one person isn’t the same to all. We only get to go around the sun so many times. If you really want something or some experience, well, you pay up for it.

Well, I’ve seen my father use it over the years. I think it’s a waste of money myself. But it’s all relative to how much you have to spend. What’s big $ to some is pocket change to others.

Personally - and I know you don’t agree, but I respect your opinion - I thought it was a 70-100k car. My budget was 55-60 before fees, etc.

1) As was expressed, an E36 was not available here like in Europe. There was value in the car already being brought to the states. I wouldn’t have to deal with the time, expense, etc. Plus, if the car wasn’t “right” per the auction, more/easier legal recourse availability.

2) 70k… 1/10 the price of the CE 6.0 Hammer on MB Market not too long ago. Pretty good value

I think these will only go up (yea, I know, so does everyone) and I’ll likely never own one. I wanted to give it a shot. Same thing happened to me about 10-12 years ago. Missed out barely on a W09 VIN RUF Carrera 3.4. Price was down to 50k. Bought a… yep, 87 911 Cab for early half that. Sigh…. RM Sotheby’s Dubai just sold a near twin for 300k.

Oh well. Glad to join the 500E Board! And yea, a 500E is in my crosshairs as well being a lifelong PCar guy.

Its really weird! I wouldn't of notice if someone didn't mention it and when I dug in, none of it made sense

HQ actively bids, has won, and comments - he's real!

Congrats on the win BT87! Beautiful car. Loved the “mic drop” winning bid…
BT87 didn't win... HQ509's mice-drop bid won.

Although given the odd bidding, BT87 might have dodged a bullet here. :scratchchin:

$70,000 bid placed by HQ509 <-- Winner
$56,000 bid placed by bt87cab <-- Runner-up
$46,500 bid placed by pmobley <--Semi-finalist

Oh hey look, I got a response
Well of course there won't be 2 accounts with the same names, addresses, and billing info! Shillers generally aren't THAT stupid. They have a friend do the shilling.

In this case though, HQ509 won the auction... so it probably wasn't shilling. It could have been either "I hate money and want this car", or someone who thought it was proxy bidding like eBay. Real shillers typically won't go above reserve.
