Vehicle description

Mercedes-Benz E500 Limited W124 in top condition for sale.
Freshly serviced at Mercedes-Benz and passed its Swiss roadworthiness test (MFK) with classic car certification (valid until May 4, 2026). The car has been professionally polished and the leather waxed.
This is a very attractive limited edition model. The E500 was built in cooperation with Porsche in Zuffenhausen and Sindelfingen. The E500 Limited is limited to 500 units worldwide and was the final model of the E500 W124 series in 1995.
This particular vehicle was first delivered to Switzerland in January 1995 in Villmergen, Aargau. With 218,000 km, it has always been well-maintained, according to the previous owner, with a lot of highway driving, and is therefore in excellent condition for its mileage. In recent years, the car has always been stored in a dry place under its custom-made car cover and driven only in good weather. Never driven in winter. It is a non-smoking car and, of course, no pets have ever been in it.
Despite its low mileage, the car shows some minor signs of wear, but is in excellent condition. There is no paint damage, and apart from a few stone chips on the hood, the bodywork is in superb shape. All functions, such as automatic climate control, electric windows, rear sunshade, cruise control, sunroof, etc., work perfectly. The standard fire extinguisher also has optimal pressure.
It features seat memory for both front seats, an automatically dimming rearview mirror (dimming intensity can be adjusted and switched off), central locking with IR remote control, and an original Mercedes radio with a CD changer in the trunk. A factory-installed auxiliary heater is also included. The owner's manual for this special edition model was bound in the original leather matching the chosen interior color. Owner's manuals, a complete service history, and the emissions test certificate are, of course, included.
The E500 Limited was available with red, green, or, as in this case, gray leather upholstery. The exterior paint was available in silver or, as with this model, sapphire black.
A new exhaust system has been installed. One of the last available original Mercedes E500 rear mufflers, a new front muffler, and a completely reupholstered headliner, including the sunroof (a known weak point with age).
It also has new front springs (covered under warranty by Mercedes-Benz after 27 years) and new rubber spring pads.
During the last service (in April 2026), the main engine control wiring harness was completely replaced (over CHF 1600, including original parts). Brittle wiring harnesses are a known problem after so many years.
The biggest weak point of the W124 series is the jack points. These are all in impeccable condition, like the ones in one of the pictures.
A few years ago, the steering wheel was re-leathered with the original Limited edition leather inserts, and the gearshift lever was also re-leathered. A new hood insulation mat was also installed.
The brakes and Continental Sport Contact tires are in good condition. The battery is approximately three years old.
The vehicle is equipped with an IR remote control for the central locking and alarm system.

The following accessories are included:
• A front muffler replacement pipe and a stainless steel rear muffler. The sound is subtly louder (both used for approximately 1,000 km and like new)
• Original Mercedes CD radio with Bluetooth conversion for music streaming and hands-free phone function
• Custom-made car cover from Autokleid in fine cotton
• Four 15mm wheel spacers with corresponding wheel bolts (I think it looks better when the wheels extend to the width of the fenders and doesn't appear ostentatious). The last two pictures were taken with the wheel spacers and before any paint correction.
• A spare driver's door handle including receiver and indicator light for the IR remote control is included as a backup.

There are a total of 3 original keys.
The original invoice from the initial delivery on January 30, 1995, to the owner of a company in Villmergen, as well as the Mercedes import documents to Switzerland, are also included.
Winter tires are not included, as the car was not driven in winter. The Mercedes-Benz EVO wheels, standard on the Limited model, are undamaged and have four new original center caps.
The car drives incredibly smoothly and has amazing acceleration. No rattles, no squeaks, solid driving stability, and absolutely rust-free.

The E500 will be released on May 7, 2026.

Sale only after viewing!

Please call in advance to arrange a viewing. A test drive is possible with temporary license plates. If you are seriously interested, I can also obtain temporary plates for a day if desired.
Due to vacation, viewings are only possible from June 1, 2026.

Please only serious inquiries. This is a true collector's item, and I want the E500 to go to a good home.
All receipts and service records from Mercedes-Benz Switzerland during my ownership are available. The service history is completely complete since its original delivery.

The price is slightly negotiable due to the included accessories.
The value has been documented and confirmed by a professional appraiser from my insurance company. According to this appraisal, the E500 was also insured as a collector's vehicle during my ownership.

No warranty or renegotiations. You have the opportunity to thoroughly inspect the vehicle, test drive it, and examine it in detail. You can also view the accessories and all receipts/documentation on site, and we can discuss everything at your leisure.

Thank you.

This one looks pretty nice. Stationary heating, no visible rust, headliner NOT sagging, correct headlights, price not totally insane.

And someone who is really praising his car. What I do find a bit strange is that the driver seat seems to be in a better condition than the passenger seat

Yes stationary heating is rare, but as I had it on one of my 300TDT Kombi , I found it not very necessary & hardly used it. I think it was a 600DM option in 1987. Probably useful if you live in Alaska or Siberia....

And for a car " Never driven in winter." it is a very interesting option.....

Mine also has the stationary heater, and I've seen it on a lot of Swiss-delivered cars - I dunno if it was a "Swiss standard" or at least expected on such a car? And even though I also find it a bit strange on a car like the 036, at one point these cars were "just normal cars" as well :)

This one looks nice, but surely the driver's seat must indeed have been redone at one point (looks like an old renovation though)?

I didn't know 218Kkm was considered "low-mileage" though, that's good to know whenever I discuss my own (with 219Kkm on the clock) 😄

I use it all the time on my CLS SB, but then again, that is my winter car. It doesn't have to be severely cold for the car to benefit from it, not to mention the people inside - the main challenge is to remember to turn it on in time. :)

On the 036 I doubt it will ever be used, even after I am able to figure out the "automatic start" it currently has now..

I think many people who spend that much money on a car (you could buy a nice apartment in DE at that point in time for it) took every option there was available.

What I have observed is that quite a few cars where build in 1994 but only registered in Q3 1995. And these seem more minimal equipped (i.e. no seat memory, no phone, no sound system) Which makes me think that these were dealer assigned cars.

I had in DXB a swiss car origin E500 Limited with the auxiliary hearting in it as well. Never tested it so

Out of curiosity. Where did they install on the W124s with M119 the auxiliary heating. I mean, where is there any space left?

I think it was stuffed behind the front bumper, ahead of one of the front tires?

My Swiss delivered SportLine E320 wagon also had it. It was removed when they swapped in the 3.6 AMG, but I still have the heating unit in a box.

Like @gsxr says it is located behind the front bumper on the left side, in the space in front of the left front wheel. The tubes going to and from the heater matrix are running in front of the fuse box, which makes it hard to open and close the latch for this. There was definitely a space issue indeed 😄

The good thing is that on the older Mercedes it heats the engine as well. Interesting is however that on the our M157 it does not heat the engine anymore. Which seems to be common on the modern engines. Not sure why. For me, the key reason to order the auxiliary heating was to have less wear and tear in the very cold days.....

OK, but that VIN's data card says the car was built in May 1994, and delivered in July 1994. That is quite different than the January 1995 delivery date that is reported in the sale information. I saw your note above that there can be a lag in the date.

Is this VIN the "for sure" VIN for this car, or an estimated VIN?

I believe this VIN is the most likely, all SA-codes on datacard match the pics of the car above. The 3 other VIN's you mentioned do not match the car: C210048 has code 581 (autom.aircon) on the datacard, but the pics show the manual aircon. C208202 shows on datacard no code 241/242 seats, but on the pics these are there. C204453 also shows code 581 (autom.aircon) on datacard, which doesn't match the pics.

The car on the pics is very likely be produced in the first half of 1994, evidenced by the type of inside rearview mirror (with the "bulge" underneath it, which the later 1994 produced cars didn't have any longer).

That is an interesting one.

See my video about waxing the underside here you will notice the unit

It’s located left wheel arch behind the driving lamp. It’s very tight in that area and I later realised the exhaust pipe etc is what was making it so hard for me to get spanner’s and ratchets in to be able to undo my engine mount last week!

There is a load of extra pipework in the engine bay. There is some kind of relay under the centre console as it clicks when I play with the controller. There is the main control unit under the rear seat also.

There are pipes running from the fuel tank, I guess it needs fuel to work!

All in all there is a lot of extra items added for this feature that I’m guessing is rarely used.

I actually wonder if the units still work. Or if they even are a fire hazard. After all, rarely used, especially among collectors who avoid winters.

Yes, I don't understand the long timeframes between delivery and registration. But I'm seeing this on a lot of E500 Limiteds. And I just checked my W124.066 - March Delivery Date - First registration in July. There must be something market specific happening. I could imagine a month but not 4 month or even 6 month as I have seen.

My 300CE-24 cabrio holiday car rolled out of factory and was originally Swiss delivered in November 1992 (to a then famous MB dealer in Zug who ordered it and put it in his showroom). First registered in March 1994 (with close to only 100 km's on the clock) when sold to its first (non dealer)owner. These long time frames happened....

That MB dealer even did the mid 1993 facelift on that car (in line with the 124 factory facelifts of the time to MOPF2) as he didn't want an "outdated model" in his showroom. When I bought it many years later (in Switzerland) I had it rebuild back again to MOPF1, to the way it originally came out of Sindelfingen

My take is that probably the export process already took a few weeks back then (e.g. creation of the EUR1, legalization of the documents, etc). then the transportation. which probably was done by train, which means the cars must have been buffered for building a complete train.

Then the import of the car

Then probably an inspection by the importer (Mercedes Benz Schweiz)

Then inspection by the MFK

When I imported 20 years ago some cars into Switzerland, the process was quite cumbersome and I needed to wait weeks for an MFK appointment. This was as a private person. I do remember as well that when the Euro dipped for the first time in 2011, the people who bought cars in the EU had to wait weeks for an MFK appointment.

So there is probably a process component in it besides some slow market elements

On my 2015 CLS SB it does indeed heat the engine as well, but not even 50 minutes of run time (standard run time) is enough to fully heat up the engine to running temperature mid-winter - and mine even has the smallest engine 😄

My main goal with using it is indeed to reduce wear on the engine as well though, the warm cabin is a (very welcome) bonus.

I actually wonder if the units still work. Or if they even are a fire hazard. After all, rarely used, especially among collectors who avoid winters.
They normally require maintenance - especially if not used often as you say. On my previos W211 (diesel) it was purely a game of lottery if it worked or not, probably due to not using it often enough. Which was not voluntary, but more a result of the remote having sooooo poor range it was sometimes easier to just go into the car and press the button.

On my 036 there is an electrical fault somewhere which causes it to fire up automatically shortly after I start the car, which I have resolved by removing the fuse for it for now. I do plan to figure it out though, and suspect there is a fault in the control panel inside the car.
