Hey everyone,

I’ve been a regular visitor of this forum and want to thank each and everyone for your contributions. It does help when you are seeking for informations.

I have decided to part ways with my E500.
Here is a brief description of it, please feel free to contact me if you need more info.
This car is at the moment only offered here as I thought it is better to show it first to the “crème de la crème” — You!

This E500 was delivered new in Hanover, Germany, on March 17, 1995, making it one of the last units produced before production ceased in May 1995. With only 120 cars built that year, this E500 represents the conclusion of an iconic model.

Shortly after its delivery in Germany, the car was exported to Japan, where it spent around 10 years. It comes with a full service history and documentation from its time in Japan. Later, the car returned to Europe, where it was purchased by an English gentleman. He primarily used it for traveling between his home and his house in France, though he reluctantly sold it due to his wife’s lack of enthusiasm for the car, despite its excellent condition.

I purchased the car in 2017 and have ensured that it has been meticulously maintained. The work completed includes replacing the boot springs and the steering bar, as well as the full replacement of the engine wiring harness, which is a known issue with these models. Additionally, the car has undergone regular servicing, a replacement infrared key (€350 from Mercedes), and the repair of the electric antenna.

Now with 105,900 km on the odometer, this E500 remains in remarkable original condition. Comes with its documents, spare keys and all service history, the car is based in France, with French registrations.

Regarding the price. Make offers.

Looks sharp! Is that 199 Pearl Black, or 040 Black paint? I see stationary heating which is a rare option - any other interesting optional equipment? Does it have driver seat memory?

You'll need to post an asking price, otherwise the @The Emperor might make an appearance:

It is the blue black metallic paint code 199U
Here are the options

Code Description
228 AUXILIARY HEATER
260 TYPE DESTINATION ON TRUNK LID - ELIMINATION
305 DUST FILTER
412 ELECTRIC SLIDING ROOF WITH TILTING DEVICE
540 ROLLER BLIND, ELECTRIC, FOR REAR WINDOW
570 FOLDING ARMREST, FRONT
581 AUTOMATIC CLIMATE CONTROL
592 HEAT-INSULATING GLASS, ALL-AROUND, HEATED REAR WINDOW PANE, BAND FILTER
620 VEHICLES WITH CATALYST TECHNIQUE
645 WINTER TIRES M + S
682 FIRE EXTINGUISHER
819 CD CHANGER IN THE TRUNK - ALPINE
873 SEAT HEATER FOR LEFT AND RIGHT FRONT SEATS
885 LOCKING SYSTEM WITH INFRARED REMOTE CONTROL AND IMMOBILIZER

Regarding the asking price, I see some good cars with 170k to 200k km at 70/80k€ in Europe so I’m thinking maybe around 90k€

Looks like a very nice car! Seems like you have the wrong lenses on there (non -E500). At $90K I think your car would need to be perfect (very detailed service and repair documentation, correct lenses and no paint flake on the right hand side rocker panel). Interior looks very sharp!

Best of luck with the sale!

I think that Euros 90K might be a bit ambitious. Collecting Cars here in the UK sold a low mileage (85k kilometers) 1994 LIMITED earlier this year for £46500. And there is currently a 120,000k car for sale on Car and Classic for £34500.

Good eye, Tim! I believe you are correct... those appear to be standard 124 lenses, not E500 lenses. Hopefully the lamps themselves are original.

Can you show any advertisements of E500E's for sale in the EU for 70/80k Euros?

I have the right ones (lenses). I think they were swapped with the UK owners.
The car is actually going to get an all around paint job. Not a full respray but just the paint flake as you noticed. The idea is to let it go in very immaculate condition.
Thank you for the message :)

To be fair, UK prices are always much lower than Europe. And then it always depends on how the condition the car is… 120kkm at 35k£ is a bargain!

Looking at Autoscout24.com and Mobile.de, there are similar mileage 036's in the EU on the market with asking prices all over the place. From € 36K (in Roeselare/BE) to € 150K (in Wijk en Aalburg/NL) or even higher. Asking prices don't mean a thing. Some cars have been sitting unsold for years. It's the (often at first glance not visible) true technical condition that matters (under the hood plus the undercarriage).
