260E for sale, very rare color combo

Heh-heh. Yeah, I forgot to post a warning... "Do not view after eating". On the flip side, viewing before eating could prove to be a great diet aid! I know I lost my appetite, lol...

:hornets:

Where can I get a bumper like that - dual exhausts!!!

Obviously, a very rare and specially made tuner rear spoiler - it has a cutout for the star.

No shots under the hood :-(

I wanted to see the lightened engine. It seems to ride high in the front. Is that due to lightening of components or very firm Sport springs and shocks???

I noticed that too. It may have the very rare helium-filled pistons! :P Or, a 4-cyl conversion!

Seriously though, my guess is that the front control arms may have been replaced and the bolts tightened with the wheels at full extension (off the ground). That is, assuming the springs/struts are stock spec. But yeah, the ride height does seem to be a bit on the high side.

Note that the early W124's (1986-88) had a taller ride height from the factory. Starting in early 1989 model year production (Nov-88), MB finally realized their error and lowered all 124 models to a more reasonable level. The Sportline models (introduced in 1992 in USA) were lowered even more, ditto the 500E. That's why 86-88s are taller than most 124's, but this Green Machine seems to be even higher than that. Ride height specs are in the FSM at this link.

:wormhole:

Dave, as to the green car...
I think you are not giving the owner enough credit. As you say, it could have very rare and expensive engine modifications to the lighten the front end. Whether the seller just installed the Helium pistons or cross-drilled the cylinder walls for lightness and cooling as well, I think this was done to alleviate the understeer in this non-Sportline car. :)

Maybe the owners are rally drivers and didn’t disclose that. Otherwise, those two cars must be crying on the inside and now outside…shame to see a Benz looking like that. Maybe the cars seem faster that way to their owners.

Oh yeah, the images alone didn’t turn my stomach…not until the watch the video of the green car.

:omg:
