500E 334 mm upgrade

Is it possible to upgrade to the 334 mm Silver Arrow brakes with the old control arms?
Yes, it is possible, if you don't mind cutting a hole in the dust shield at the ball joint area, AND grinding several mm (3-5mm?) off the face of the old/early LCA. There must be a minimum of 2mm air gap, or the rotor will rub on the LCA when cornering. I don't like this modification and personally do not recommend it, but I know other people have done it.

Generally it's preferred to replace the LCA with new OE/Genuine late style, as the old/early LCA's are usually tired after 25+ years. New late-style LCA's will likely last another 200kmi / 25+ years.

Edit: Late LCA's are NLA from Mercedes, aftermarket are not recommended.

Lazy question here, how much do the newer style LCA cost and are they available? People here know I’m more a fan of new MB parts than I am of “science projects” (which certainly have their place as well — I grew up watching MacGyver).

$250 each list, ~$180 discount, still available as of a few weeks ago... but stock was dwindling rapidly. In March it was down to 15 left in Germany for the right side:

It's unknown if any more will be produced. Paragon was showing a note indicating possible permanent NLA when existing stock is depleted.
