Hi everyone, i want to swap 5G tronic in to my 500E , can anyone suggest from wich model mercedes would be beat to pull out the transmission for the swap, thank you very much
Personally, I’d go with a 722.620 from a W140 S500. They have the corresponding M119 bell housing. Although they have a tendency to fail as they are from the first production run.
Don’t forget, you might need a different differential and drive shaft.
Would you like to go a bit newer? Do you intend to push some power or just general driving?

for now just general driving maybe later push more power, i just don’t know if the bellhousing will bolt on to a newer 5g tronic, i am aware about the diferential and driveshaft, do you know by any chance what diferetial would be a good option?
the 5 speed transmission will work with the OE diferetial, wouldn’t the 5 speed have different gearing ratio in combination with stock diff? i mean it would be different gearing from the 4 speed

Wonder what 0-60 times look like on Equal footing E500E albeit one with the 5 speed and one with the 4 speed.. does the lower gearing on 5th allow for higher top speed?
The transmission ratio differences are small enough that it wouldn't make much difference. Now, if you changed the rear axle (differential) gear ratio, that can make bigger changes in 0-60, but still only a few tenths of a second to 60mph.
Yup. The 500E is redline-limited to ~162mph or so. The overdrive 5th would change final drive to 2.34 which would allow a theoretical 189mph at redline. The 5L engine supposedly runs out of power in the low 170's though... and the 6L by approximately 180. Aerodynamic changes are needed to get beyond those limits.
That figures to me! When I was stations at JSA on the DMZ in S. Korea there were plenty of stories about the Turks (who fought in the war as well). While the US was concerned with not letting the enemy know their location the Turks didn't care at all. They actually wanted the enemy to know! They would make huge bon fires and smoke whenever they wanted letting all know where they were. It was a "cum and get sum" attitude. Those Ottomans!
On another note more related to this forum: IF one has the time, tools and know how it seems that a 5G swap is a cost equivalent to replacing any of our tranny's stock counterpart.
