Its a weekly event held here in Q8. A special guest this week is a 124.036.

Owner would like a cheap LSD solution. Suggestions? W126 560 unit ?

Cheapest will be the factory LSD, the W126 unit will only work if the donor had 2.65, 2.82, or 3.06 gears.

I believe most of the 560SEC/SEL had 2.47 gears and that LSD will NOT fit the 500E.

Any suggestions on which donor cars to check? we hope to get it done for next week..though it did do well on the current set-up... by mistake he was using old winter tires :D
 
I can give you the part number of the LSD he needs.... 126-350-40-23. I can't help with donors as the Euro-spec cars are different than USA spec.

There's a used one for sale right now in the forum classifieds, click here. Cost to ship to most places in the Middle East would be roughly $100-$125 USD.

Update, We are going through with this but I just found this info:

W140 S350TD / 300TD : Rear Axle ratio is 2.82 with carrier 126-350-40-23 and ASD (not sure how it differs from ASR)...Wouldn't this fit ?

The Carrier is also available on 560SE/SEC/SEL Jap market in 2.65 ratio and 300E/E320 with manual transmission.
 
ASD is a modified version of LSD. Carrier 126-350-40-23 is the factory clutch-type LSD that will fit the 500E, it is also used in some S350 (only S350's with optional ASD).

I'd recommend the Quaife for drifting though. The factory LSD is better suited to street use or drag racing.
