Very Awesome car Congratulations . Please can you open the radio head unit screen and share pictures of where the screen stops. I have hesitated to buy a head unit with motorized screen thinking it might end up angled down . I have used one of these for now so as to not have to modify the dash. Also the model of the unit would be awesome ans does it have apple play
I just removed this headunit a few weeks ago. It was a very silly and outdated thing so definitely no carplay. The hilarious thing about it is that it would fold out and hit the emergency lights switch and move the switch into the middle position. For the first few months I owned the car I could not figure out why my left or right signal didn't work! So I was happy to see that headunit go in the trash.

He is the one that said it was shipped back to Germany and was painted black.

I found a post on the Swedish Mercedes-forum that's been pretty dormant for years, but it was quite big back in the day and I remembered the yellow E500, this is the post where the owner announced that the car's been sold back to Germany. He's even got the car as his profile picture. Paint code was apparently 216.

Translation: "unfortunately have to announce that the yellow one is now back in its birthplace   but on the other hand, it is now picked apart into molecules to later be resurrected in new condition"

There's another post where he informs that the car's been repainted to black instead of yellow a while later. All images he's posted are unfortunately broken.

I believe Jan and @Taxi Driver know each other, but don't know for sure.

The information about the paint code came from me. When originally I decoded the VIN, 216 was the paint code that came up. The most recent document I posted here (from lastvin.com) lists the code as 691U. So one of them is incorrect, most likely the 216 color code, as it came from the Russian VIN decoder site. I had also noted that 216 was a paint code never used on a Mercedes. The paint code 691 is light yellow and was used on Mercedes between the years of 1993 and 2000. So the 691U would be the correct color for that particular 500E.
