WANTED 500E Driver seat

This will be difficult to find.

Why not buy new leather covers from GAAH/GAT and repair your existing one? Both places are in SoCal, they might be able to do the work for you as well, including repair of the NLA rubber-mat "horsehair" pad.

Horsehair pad reproductions are available from PK Classic which was recommended to me by Jaime Kopchinski of Classic Workshop here in NJ.
I bought the seat cushion and seat back specific to the Recaro buckets-A1249104050 and A1249103416.

The part number linked above is for standard (non-Sportline/500E) seats, with fabric or velours (not leather).

I can't find the Sportline seat base pad (A1249104050) on their website, or the Sportline backrest pad (A1249103416). Did what you receive look like the photos below?

Should look like this:

The Recaro pads are not on the website but he does carry them. This is what I received.
Thanks for the photos! Were those claimed to be brand-new reproductions? They look like used pads, with the original Recaro label carefully torn to remove the date codes. Really odd.

Great - do they come with the heating elements as per factory MB
Nope, photos in post #6 show no heating elements, and no foam padding at all (the backrest has additional foam at the top, besides just the heaters).

Full photos of new + used pads are at this link.

Simple question - is it the same internal parts (cushions) for both the drivers and passenger seat?

If so the cushion from the drivers seat could be exchanged with the passenger seat. I mean, the drivers seat has normally way more wear than the pass.seat, and before wearing the drivers seat cushion totally to pieces an exchange could be a temporary fix lasting for several years. I have so far never worked with anything on the seats, so I don't know how much work it includes, maybe not that easy to do as it sounds and not worth the hassle?

Yes.

I did this once, swapped an entire passenger seat to the driver side.

Yup this is what my guy at Mercedes Classic recommended. They buy the kits from GAAH.
