500e headlights

Hi guys i want to know is there way to detect a 500e headlight then a normal headlight even though it comes with a clear glass. I am trying to buy a headlight and guy is giving it at a good price. When i asked the other seller to price match it and showed him the headlights i am getting at a goof price. He said its not right one and he said inside of 500e headlight there is white sticker and normal headlight has blue sticker is it true?

Following. These may be 500E RHT lenses on 'standard' W124 enclosures

The sticker states "links verkehr" (left hand traffic), so these would be for UK/Japan/Australia.....

Good catch, Steve. Even if the lenses and housings are correct, if the reflectors are wrong, the light output / beam pattern will also be incorrect.

@Gurnek, don't you already have a pair of proper 500E lamps? Check the reflector label on those. Whatever you buy should have the same information on the label.

I purchased lights earlier this year from a less expensive seller, see video below for a thorough investigation. They were about half the going rate; the lenses are legit but the 'buckets' aren't 100% correct for a 500E - they're from a pedestrian W124 so they have a partial cover over the H3 bulb. Feel free to PM me w the seller info if you'd like to keep it secret and I can confirm if I used the same

Yep, that's another tell of wrong lamps... if there's a shield over the H3 bulb, it isn't an original 036 lighting unit / reflector.

I have a set of refresh headlights from an E420 (I believe), that I bought to harvest the wiper arms and motors. If needed I could in theory swap the refresh H4 reflectors into my pre refresh 500E Euro light housings (keeping the 500E euro lenses, obviously).

The H4 Euro reflector should be the same, HOWEVER you must be careful to make sure someone isn't selling units with LHT (UK/Japan/Australia) reflectors as seen in the photos above. Since 036 lights went NLA, the LHT bits keep showing up for sale (either advertised as RHT or conveniently unspecified), which is concerning.

No, but only because the Bosch and Hella reflectors are slightly different and AFAIK they are not interchangeable...??

Hi yes I bought a set recently from the forum but i am missing right hand side lense. As u are very well aware 500e parts are like gold lol. I posted in 500e group to buy right hand side lense or a pair. So i met this guy from isreal he has lense and headlights both. Lenses are 1800$ headlights are 2800$. Then another guy from jordan contacted me and gave me deal for headlights at 1600$ But he doesn’t have lense. So i was tempted to buy the headlights and resell the set i have however the jordan guy has legit info but doesn’t give me a good vibe. So i asked the isreal guy to match the price and i have seem review where in people have bought stuff from him. He asked me to show the pictures and then he said the jordan guy is selling me wrong headlights. But according to my knowledge those lights look legit. So now i am confused

Is the Jordan guy selling the lights shown in the photo below? If so, Israel is correct. See post #3 above, Steve already explained this...
