Not to sound too much like an old fart but holy cow am I the only one fed up with every single Tesla making it as bright as the sun with their blinding headlights?

I know most cars now have super bright LED's but holy shit they are BRIGHT! Is it a case of lazy/stupid owners leaving them on max bright all the time?

I hate them too. I used to try and be considerate and ensure my headlamps on my halogen-converted-to-LED-or-HID cars were well aimed and glare free to oncoming traffic. Now I have given up and aim my headlamps for max visibility. Call it mutually assured destruction or whatever. If there are a bazillion white Teslas on the roads blinding me then I gotta step up my game so that I can see. Selfish, but what can one do?

LED Highbeam Laserlight and all the Creations of new Balance LED Light are robish .Colourtemp More are 5000kelvin are to Bright and not good for the Eyes .Are blinding .For my eyes are like 2500 -max 3500Kelvin.More Warm white. The same with Back Stop LED Lights .on every Traficlight all Idiots are push the Brake for fear an Idiot can Hit the Ultimate High Value Shithole.
And in my Schooltime and my Apprenticeship training the Told .When everthing was Warm is not good for EnegieBalance.Look to LEDS Big Fan or big Heatsink are good for everthing??Think no.
And my most underrated thing is the Blue Portion are to big. And some studies the can go too eys Cancer.Maybee i am not a doctor, but look into and bright high LED and yor Eyes are have Pain.
And here in Germany the prices for Carinsurens are go up to 20p% and why ?The repcost are going under the Roof.Last Year i bought a set of LED Svaroski bla bla Light for an C217 ang Coupe. I must Paid only for this Hollow Birds .without controlunits 7500 Euro with 8% Discount .ÄH??
I like the old Style from or H7 H4 Beams or old Xenon Lights.
An you see _you are note allone (y)

I'm wondering if it's a case of owners leaving them on some kind of "auto on" setting or something? I've never been a fan of that and always turned on my headlights "manually". I don't know much about Teslas so maybe the lights adjust to max bright when ambient light goes down? Still it's hella (hahaha) annoying

**Grumpy Old Man Alert**

I have grown to hate driving at night, mainly because of the intensity of the headlights of oncoming traffic.

My worst case scenario is dark, raining and not knowing the road I'm travelling on.

I'm not even that old so goodness knows what I'll be like if I do reach advanced years...

I'm firmly GenX so I guess also not quite at the grumpy old fart stage :oldster:

but I'm ready to yell "get off my lawn" right now :jono:

Here in the south every other vehicle is a lifted truck with unadjusted lights. Teslas, overloaded suburbans. The ultimate example could be the police cruisers with a circus marque of red, blue, and white lights that blind everyone in the name of safety. There is no way to pass a group of them without being blinded. If one cannot see a simple rotating beacon and some flashing reds (the best color to retain night vision) it's time to surrender the license.

On the other side, some drivers run right into the cruisers as if they should "drive towards the lights".

I DO love that rear sunshade.

+ 1 on all that from another "Grumpy Old Man" here in the UK!

I don't know how old you are, but I've certainly reached that age (77) where I'm finding driving at night a complete nightmare. I can't say whether Tesla's are soley to blame for the dazzle problem - if that's the case, there must be a lot of Tesla's over this side of the pond. The intense silver/white colour of headlamps today, are, for me, extremely hazardous. As R129 says, night driving on unfamiliar roads and/or in rain compounds the problem. Whenever possible, I avoid driving at night, especially on roads I don't know. I really do wonder what kind of test is applied during the design stage of a vehicle to ensure the lights conform to what I assume are certain anti-dazzle regulations written down somewhere - and whether beam alignment is one of the pre-sale checks done by the car dealer? Maybe the lights go "awol" after a short while - remember here a new car is not tested for roadworthiness until its 3 years old, so poor beam alignment can go undetected for some while.

No doubt some of the problem is because some drivers don't know where the dip switch is, but this can't explain away the numerous occasions I get dazzled.

I just wonder how many employees in the Govt Dept of Transport suffer the same - but can't be bothered to ask questions?

Rant over!

@r44raven,
And other “Old Farts” like me at 82. A lot of us have CATARACTS which really affects night driving. 5 or 6 years ago or further back, I was getting concerned about driving at night. My judgment seemed to be off and it was due to having cataracts.

I had a very simple cataract operation on both eyes and it helped immensely. The bright lights still annoy me but I can see much better at night even in the rain at night. My wife also had the surgery and it helped her night vision also.

Soooo, My advice is if you do have cataracts on your eyes get them removed ASAP! It’s a simple surgery and takes about an hour or less per eye.

Just Saying lol😀

Yeh, I know all about cataracts - had one removed a couple of years ago, and got another one progressing in the other eye that will need sorting soon! Over here, there are massive waits (18 months or so) for such procedures - but if you claim dazzle is a problem when driving at night - you jump to the front of the queue!
