560sec Euro 300hp 0 - 250 kph

Quite amazing for a 300hp M117 engine with the old hydraulic vacuum 722.3 transmission.

How can we be sure it is the 300PS/295bhp Euro version?
This seems to me like a Japan/Canada spec 560 (with cat, and either 279PS or 242bhp, depending on compression ratio), due to its 2.47 rear diff ratio as seen on the speedometer marks.

Based on the speedo vs video time, the 560SEC took about 37 seconds to hit 220kph. The E500 was about 25 seconds.

Same as mentioned above, if a Euro spec 560 with its 2.65 diff with a 300PS machine on it (10:1 compression, RÜF version and no cat) were on that video, then time measurement up to 200kph should be 27 - 30 seconds (from various magazines' test results // I calculated to 220kph, roughly that would make 32 - 36 seconds' bracket).

not sure if its 300hp Euro just a guess since it seems quite fast.

This is very awesome! It looks like the entire vacuum system of this transmission is toally intact and working perfectly!

Its shifting just as fast as 722.6 shifts! I am serious! I am comparing this to w210 E50 AMG 0 to 220 kph videos.

The shifts are just as fast. 722.6 is electronically controlled vacuum transmission, thats the difference. it could be TUNED to shift faster but from factory stock. the shifing speed looks the same!

your thoughts?

Interestingly, the 722.3 primarily uses vacuum to adjust shift firmness at part throttle. At full throttle, vacuum is near zero, and the trans will shift based on the adjustable setting of the modulator. But yes, this trans shifts correctly, as any good 722.3 should shift at WOT!

I've also owned a couple of W210's with M119, and the 722.6 shifts just about as quick at WOT. I can't tell any significant difference. I've never experimented with 722.6 TCU "tunes" for quicker shifting. It would be interesting to compare videos of the tach during WOT runs like this, before & after the "tune", to see how much improvement there is. I did try the AMG "blue" shift solenoids but the part throttle shift quality was terrible, so I went back to stock solenoids. IIRC it would slam back into 1st gear when slowing to a stop.

Keep in mind that on the stopwatch or dragstrip timing system, quicker shifts make very, very little difference. Maybe a tenth of a second over a quarter mile, if even that much. Usually, when people complain about "slow" automatics, they mean that it doesn't react immediately when they mash the gas pedal - it takes a second before the downshift occurs, and this feels like an eternity. Shifting manually helps a lot though. Generally, the complaint is not about a slow WOT upshift.

Video below of my old E60-RS. Time to 220kph is roughly 20 seconds.

Man, what a dream car to own! w210 E60, either the AMG or Renntech..then the Brabus 6.5L would be another level.

But I agree with you @gsxr

Faster shifts would probaby at most add 1/5th of a second or so faster times, which if its a professional race and every 1/10th or 1/5th of a second counts for a win or loss, but for us every day normal drivers, not really a big deal.

Really goes to show how amazing a well maintained 722.3 transmission really is. Ofcourse 722.6 well maintained and tuned can be even better!
