Need one with good glass....suitable for a car with 100K on it.

Could buy a pair if that what it takes...new unit(s) too works. I think only a left one is left new from MB at like $638, I was quoted last week. I know eBay has them used also but I'll ask the gang here first. Leads appreciated.

Thanks in advance !

Do you need the entire light, or just replacement glass lenses?

@gerryvz , since this was posted in the pedestrian subforum, I assumed Jimbo wanted pedestrian lights...?

Jim, can you please confirm?

:mushroom:

Jimbo HAS gone pedestrian ! See my new whip in the signature.

I could switch in a lens I guess...was told they were not available by my parts guy last week. I may have given him the euro-glass number tho.

Unfortunately, the left lens on the indy 94' E420 donor car has a rock chip. . .right side good.

Jimbo, there are Euro-spec, OE lenses available, made by Hella. No comm-blocks, last I checked. Reasonably priced too. These snap right on to USA/DOT-spec E300/E320/E420 Bosch headlight assemblies. Get your Lamin-X from Honcho prior to install.

Photos with part numbers are here:

Oh, and congrats on the 95 E420 purchase! We have a few .034's too...

:3gears:

I have a very nice left lens. It is a Bosch lens. 1305 544 186. Automotive Lighting no. 1 305 621 804. Lens itself says made in Germany. AL sticker says Czech Rep.
Doesn't make much sense to buy used though when new is as cheap as shown.

Just finished cleaning it. Going to let my son drive it next year when he turns 16. I get to enjoy how clean it is now until then !

Torn between lowering it onto Monoblocks or leaving it all stock. Maybe just lower spring pads...

Looks great Jimbo! I vote for keeping her EXACTLY as she is.

Yes, Drew, I have access to a 94' E420 (non-ASR) parts car. At least for now.

I was just double-checking with my previous post. I've known YoJimbo for nearly 20 years, and always known him for all of that time to be a 500E and a VW/Audi guy, not an 034er.

Didn't check his signature for new whips. :whip2:

1. Be very, very, very gentle with the clips to remove the old lens. They will break if not careful. Press the old lens hard against the assembly to release the tension and with a flat putty type knife (aka trim removal tool, etc.) pop it off slowly. I do not recommend using a flathead screwdriver.

Edit: Take the time to wipe down the reflectors with a clean rag and glass cleaner. They will most definitely have a cloudy film on them.

2. Go monoblocks. Wanna give your offspring a leg up in life, and this is a great start :coolgleam:

I actually wanted a coupe for him. This one though; its so nice. We only had to wipe down the wheel wells to get back to the silver body.

It has a nice story behind it too....no way I could let it go for sale on BAT. I have a picture of the car at my son's first birthday party !

Monoblocks, they look so right on any 124.

Trae, I'll call you.

Believe it or not I picked up a set of 7.5 x 17" et42 AMG II Monos with a 124 part number, a perfect pedestrian wheel for our 94 E420...

They just popped up one day after I bought a C36 set.. lol, these square 7.5's fit perfect and look exactly like c36 wheels.

I do have a c36 set for sale if anyone is interested, straight and repainted...nice

If still in the pedestrian hunt, for your consideration I have:

—FL USA Bosch left headlight complete, some broken plastic but repairable with dedication, lens just fine for DD, will separate;
—FL NOS/NIB left Bosch Euro lens (124-820-51-66/1-305-621-804);
—FL NOS/NIB L/R pair Bosch Euro lenses (-804 & 805).

Hope that helps...

Another possible suggestion to help prevent breaking the plastic clips as mentioned above in point #1, is to use a hot air gun to heat those plastic clips to give them a little more flexibility.. Slow and gentle, compression of the lens seal is key as well, to help take off some of the strain on the clips.
When I did this operation I placed a couple of hand towels over a thin layer of flexible foam on a work bench. Then with the headlight placed with the lens side down on the towels, I was able to press down hard on the body of the light with one hand while gently prying the clip off with the other. Of course, using the hot air gun on the plastic clip and the lens seal one side at a time, before you start to pry the clip. Hope that makes sense... It's still nerve racking no matter how you do it. I just think the design for retaining the lens to the body could have been more user friendly, some sort of movable flip clip like you see on plastic tool boxes would have been nice, lift up to release pressure and simply tilt away, but everything adds $$ to the cars cost.
