A Personal Rant of Utter Un-importance

First off, I know this is a highly subjective matter and completely boils down to taste.
Asshole version:What the hell was wrong with people in the 80's? Why was this offered as a color option and why the hell did anyone chose to adorn their 60 thousand dollar luxury coupe with this travesty of a paint color, this liquid hideous, this assault on the senses. It looks like someone placed a prosthetic limb onto an aged Apple II. This is a car for the man whose wardrobe consists solely of tweed and baggy corduroy.

Civil version:
This color is so unappealing to me that I have to wonder if it was just something that only looked good in a different time, or if I'm the weird one and the color is fine when judged by the average person.

VIN = WDBEA50D1KA928320

(Side note on the car for sale, it looks to be in terrific condition)
((Also I realize this post is in slightly poor taste, but I'm genuinely curious about peoples' opinions of this color))
(((Also let me know if this post is pushing the bounds of assholeary)))

Your ad is already down but I guess you refer to the two-tone beige car in your post?

The color is rad, the interior color is rad, the combo is awesome and I would love to have that car as s cruiser.. So no, there's nothing wrong with the color ;)

Such colours were very popular in the '60s, and I think this is a hang-over from then. One can imagine the car being ordered in this colour by some elderly couple whose tastes date back to that time.

The colour is DEFINITELY not my taste, and in my opinion does nothing for the car at all. On the other hand, there is a certain attractiveness in its rareity. It would certainly stand out in a crowd!

Well Illustrated Bing!

Yes the 199 is probably the ideal color for the 124036 (more than 60% of orders were 199) but now that they have evolved into young classics/collector cars the rare colors (least popular in their time) will be the more sought after. Colors like Crystal Green, Malachite Green, Impala brown, Bryll enhance the classic car character and stand out in the crowd. A taxi Beige 500E would be interesting for many collectors now, although back in the 1990s it would have been insane to buy one!

I would never order that particular color for myself but I actually prefer it to at least one of the more rare options.

+1 with Glen. I think .036s look much better with darker colors, and the classic MB brilliant & smoke silvers, but I would definitely prefer taxi-color to white on an .036.....

The good thing is that taxi-color is not all that common here in the US, so it doesn't carry quite the same stigma that it does in Yurrop.

For those wondering, the color is Light Ivory (code 623). Seems the German name for the color is "Hellelfenbein" which should really just be "Hell".

I owned a nice 1986 300E that color, only because it was a screaming deal. Hated the color, after a couple years I sold the car to a friend who drove from ~220kmi to ~290kmi before trading it in, car is still in town under new ownership somewhere north of 300kmi.

But anyway, yeah, it's one of my least favorite colors in MB's palette.

I like it. Looks like it's in pretty good nick too. Gotta fix the wiper panels.
Too bad about the 103.

I think it's screaming hot, actually. But then again, I'm your neighborhood contrarian and I'm in South Florida. And, for years I thought Desert Silver was the color I wanted in my 500E. There's just something about an aggressive car in silky soft colors that I just love. The whole wolf in sheep's clothing thing, I guess -- no need to telegraph; obvious is never sexy.

Like, for years I searched for a Barolo Red W211 E55k with Chestnut wood, but alas it was not meant to me. So I got a Flint Grey S55 with the Chestnut wood. The car's looks totally belie what's underneath.
