Add Gearboxcooler

RENNtech sold a kit, but not many people add a transmission cooler. Unless you are towing, road racing, or spending a lot of time at vMax on the autobahn... it generally isn't needed (especially if using full-synthetic ATF).

:hiding:

We needed one for endurance racing. The W140 600 external transmission coolers are Tits! They have their own fan/thermostatically controlled) but they're $$$.

What are you doing that you feel you need an additional/external cooler?

I Mean my drivestyle is for Germany normal. Around my Hometown we have some unlimited "Autobahn" sections. And i feel me better when the gearbox is running a bit cooler and less more Energie go to Radiator and helps the Engine running more cool down.

After aproxx -2-3 min flat out, the Engine Temp goes in the near from over 110 degress , And so i think its better i became the FluidTemp/Energie more down and help so the Engine.

And it ist possible too fit the maybe W140 Oilcooler to fit under the Front for my036. Its enough space beetwen the Foglight and The Body `??AMG Fitted to r129 7,0 and 7,3 M120V12 also an Add Gearboxcooler.

Markus, all E500E's have engine oil coolers from the factory , except USA and Japan models.

Is your car European-spec? It should have the engine oil cooler already:

There was a factory oil cooler with electric fan for the 400E420 with towing package. It fits the 500E500 nicely but the fender liner needs to be modified.
Nice! Aaron, that is for transmission fluid, correct? Will it clear the fog light on an E500E?

I have a full W140 trans cooler set as well the W124 400 trans cooler package minus the cooler. Think some of the items where the last available. The cooler itself can be purchased also from OEM suppliers at a more reasonable cost... I only consider to install a thermostat infront of the trans oil cooler which is available on the newer cars. So you avoid running the transmission too cold. I noticed on my supercharged W123 while decoupling the trans oil cooler circuit that the temperature stabilizes a bit better or let's say you can feel a slight improvement in the cooling capacity. Doesn't run colder though but once moving I drops back into the 90 degree range faster.

BTW, if anyone has a photo of a 400E trans cooler setup installed in e5e would be happy to see it. I had a quick look while de-facelifting my car and the bumper was off and can tell that the 400E cooler braket has to be modified quiet substantially to fit in the 036.
