Hey everyone,
just wanted to introduce myself to proove my good manners haha.
My name is Enea (male
), living in Germany and 30y of age. Working as an engineer @Bosch in the brake system field (Electr. stability control).
2 years ago I fulfilled myself a dream and upgraded from my 190E 2.0 auto (93') to a 400E from 93'. With the car I also purchased a used StarDiag./Xentry w/ HHTWin emulation and WIS, EPC etc.
Unfortunately I have no photo right now, but will upload a few any time soon.
These were the options ordered for this car (to get an image in your head):

Currently it has ~132k mls on the clock.
Since I got the car I changed a few parts by myself like dampers (found out that the front dampers have a changed part number bc. of production location change), fuel pressure regulator, alternator (really good instructions I found here), camshaft sealing toghether w/ Bosch distributor caps, valve Y58/1 (caused sawing idle), new expansion tank and just today a climate control unit (sure I forgot a few smaller things).
Furthermore I will need to have the ceiling repaired. Unfortunately no upholsterer I contacted has the original material for the ceiling.... so I just sent a request to Mercedes-Classic in Fellbach (hope they will have it, probably will cost a fortune but I hate the alcantara look for this car.....
Also the reverse gear takes a second to engage, so this will be another rebuild anytime soon.
The good thing is that the previous owner already did the eng. harness, timing chain, cam. adjuster, throttle body and fuel pumps w/ filter, ignition harness, etc. Also he upgraded the sound system w/ high quality speakers, a small subwoofer in the passanger footwell and a bluetooth receiver for the orig. Becker radio (everything looks original, which I really appreciate). Springs were also changed to H&R w/ slight lowering.
Overall I really enjoy driving the car. Especially on the Autobahn, where it def. belongs haha (100mph w/ 3500rpm is the best cruising speed imho, doing a pretty good 20mpg).
I am hoping to be able to contribute a little to this forum w/ my humble knowledge. Already enjoying the know-how that the members have (respect!!!).
BR,
