Hi everyone, have finally got the 500E back to its best.
After sorting out the running issue, which was a failed MAF/Hot wire sensor, changing a few of the shit aftermarket bits it had on it from Japan, and fitting some new oem parts to it, she is now how she should be

Anyway, some pics

The car looks great!

I need to replace my header tank (manky like I guess your's was!).

But what about the screen wash reservoir? I believe these are no longer available? How did you manage to clean your's up? Mine's pretty grubby. I've been told they will clean up if you put them in a dish-washer!

Cheers for the comments guys. This is my Boss`s car, it was myself who has done the majority of the work to it.

@r44raven the washer bottle wasnt too bad when the car arrived. All iused was some Bilt Hamber Surfex HD degreaser on it and it came up pretty well.

Absolutely love the plaid seats and door panels, want to do that to mine so bad.....anyone have any idea if a retrofit with "new" covers and door panel inserts is even possible?

If it ain't plaid it ain't rad......

The seats are cool, same as the 190e cosworth`s from the same era

Lovely car, health to drive! :gsxracer:

I had thought about getting a light tint on the rear windows of my car, seeing how good it looks on yours I think I'll get that done sooner than later

Looks stunning mate. I think I saw this one for sale and my mate Pav went to view, his Lotus ended up needing tonnes of work so I think he didn't go through with the purchase. Nice to see many of the aftermarket parts removed which has put the car back to OEM spec. These look soo good in OEM format, I sometimes think of changing mine back to OEM....

I'd be tempted to change the shift knob and speedo back to OEM along with the indicators and tail lights back to orange - would nicely suit the OEM look you're going for.

Is your boss keeping hold of the car? Would be good to know about ownership as time goes on.

Stephen - the washer tank should still be available from MB along with the coolant tank and SLS reservoir bottle. Would be happy to help you change these over if you want.

Cheers for the kind words mate.
It came to us with 17" monoblock AMG wheels, and while they looked good, its not an AMG car. Looks so much better with the proper wheels on it. The dials are a bit marmite....i didnt realise they should be black until looking through some pictures. Whether the original owner ordered it like that from the factory i dont know.
Is the shift knob incorrect? Again, is what came with the car andmatches the wood trim on the dash.
The indicators we quite like, the amber stuff is more US spec to me, but each to their own.

He always says he is keeping everything....until someone offers the right money lol!

You may want to check both the speedometer and odometer, to verify they are both accurate, via GPS readings. When a 300kph speedo faceplate is installed, an external converter box can make either the speedo or odo accurate, but not both. Getting both accurate requires internal modifications. Hopefully it was done "right" and both are correct!

:wormhole:

We shall see gsxr. Not really driven it any distance since he picked it up. Im sure he will start using it now its all done.
