• Hi Guest !

    Welcome to the 500Eboard forum.

Since its founding in late 2008, 500Eboard has become the leading resource on the Internet for all things related to the Mercedes-Benz 500E and E500. In recent years, we have also expanded to include the 400E and E420 models, which are directly related to the 500E/E500.

We invite you to browse and take advantage of the information and resources here on the site. If you find helpful information, please register for full membership, and you'll find even more resources available. Feel free to ask questions, and make liberal use of the "Search" function to find answers.

We hope you will become an active contributor to the community!

Attending a Cars and Coffee style Porsche meeting

I've done a similar thing with the Canada West Porsche club here in Vancouver. They used to have a wonderful Saturday morning event, Bob's Breakfast Club, where club members would meet early on a Saturday morning and then take a nice scenic drive on the Sea-to-Sky Highway. I'd normally drive my 928 GTS but on occasion, I'd take the 1992 500E and happily, many of the club members knew the history and link to Porsche!

„Throw you out“....they should celebrate you as their guest of honor as the guy with the car that started it all! 😉
That was my feeling! but I don't think most there would have agreed. :jono:

To be fair they did let me stay in the "Featured" 4 door area, but so some weird reason most seemed to be going GaGa over the Audi Q5 in Drag, Macan GTS in Metallic Blue parked next to me

Of the few owners I did speak to, most knew what it was and were complimentary....

Well except the ones who asked "Is that an AMG Hammer?" OR "Was this Mercedes answer to the Lexus?" :sel:

I almost posted a sign on the Dash "Google 'Porsche 2758' " but I guess that would have been pretentious

That looks like the town square in Southlake......
Indeed it is, I live just round the corner - and its free to attend - unlike a lot of the "Cars and...." events in DFW these days...

Years ago I was denied entry into the Porsche "corral" with my 500E at a Road Atlanta race. The corral was a designated parking area each marque had for anyone attending the event. When asked if he knew the 500E was built by Porsche the PCA attendant seemed to think I was fabricating stories.

Many years ago I read several different articles about the 500E, both made mention of the "threat" posed by the LS400 and hence why Mercedes needed to up their game to include a V8. So there is some truth behind that statement. Although in later articles, the same LS400 "threat" was mentioned when talking about the 400E and the 500E design purpose was changed to read "in response to the M5. I don't necessarily buy into the M5 theory though, as it was around since 1985 and the LS400 was introduced in 1989

Those shit-stains are peeps who bought their Porches because it’s the cool thing to do. Beyond that, they are as clueless about Porches as they are about what a true Hammer looks like, let alone an 036.
You Pretty much nailed it

The few that talked to appreciated I brought it as they hadn't seen one before, but as I found out just now - and to be honest expected - looking at pictures from todays event on social media - the rest decided to be Keyboard Warriors later and show their butthurt and ignorance that I had dared to attend and park among the Audi Q5 and Q7's - at least I think thats what they were :stirthepot:

I got the 036 out for a needed run and am finding out what bits and pieces I need to get fixed up as it comes out of storage

Looks like I missed an opportunity to show off this bird-shit-stained, pollen-coated, mud-caked, and totally soulless loaner car. AKA a Porsche Cayenne.

$80K of pure boredom.

Can't imagine standing around talking about it in an enthusiastic manner. Ever.

Just remind them that they're driving what amounts to an airport rental car.
