Blue Ridge Mercedes- Jono! (SA brake upgrade problem)

Re: Blue Ridge Mercedes- Jono!

BTW: I calculated the volume difference of using 10-inches of 3/4" ID hard lines vs 11/32"ID line.

3/4": 4.418 cubic inches of vacuum
11/32": 0.927 cubic inches of vacuum

In short, using 3/4" hard line gave me 4.76x MORE vacuum reserve.

Using 5/8" ID hard-line would give you 3.05 cubic inches of vacuum, which would be 3.2x better than the stock 11/32" ID hard-line.

However, using 3/4" vs 5/8", the 3/4" still gives you 1.4x more.

For $20, it's worth giving it a try.

<SNIP> A kind Meet Attendee drove the 5 blocks to a Western Auto store and sourced me a Gates belt of the proper size ... I am still grateful to him for doing that for me, gratis. Still running that same belt, too.

<SNIP>

Cheers,
Gerry

Gerry- do you have Gates PN#s for those V-belts ? Here in Jacksonville, FL, no one had any stock for 4-days!

Re: Blue Ridge Mercedes- Jono!

nice little fix there Neil..:) I'll remember that as some of these booster lines are SILLY money.

Trae, always a pleasure...and yes, pay attention to that gear..yes, that one....;-) Best part about making mistakes, they usually will save you from Diving in and making more in the future..! Lord knows I learned the hard way when I was getting started!!

Re: Blue Ridge Mercedes- Jono!

Funny how often the largest vacuum line gets overlooked. Swapped out new on my C126 and all systems that rely on vacuum are much faster than before. It served since 12/90, not bad.

Re: Blue Ridge Mercedes- Jono!

I had the opportunity to bring my 560sec to Jono and crew this past weekend as well as visit an old friend I hadn't seen in 12 yrs. I have nothing but great things to say. Great people! And I got to look at AMG5PT4 s cars...WOW!

Business is business. No worries. [emoji6] No negative events on the trip home. Got several 4th-3rd pulls( long) . Even had a C300 courtesy car get froggy. But the fun vs risk/ safety factor came in to play.

Does this sound like another Atlanta GTG in the making?

Honcho seems to attract GTG where ever he travels.

Re: Blue Ridge Mercedes- Jono!

We need to schedule it around your new dig.
Heck, you may get enough help to move all your tools, cars, and other paraphernalia if many of us show up.
