Can I borrow your 94-95 VIN?

Hello,

Would somebody here be willing to share their VIN with me so I can order a headlight for a 1994-1995 E500? I have a 92 that has been facelifted (see thread below), and it did not come with correct E500 headlights. I was able to find a RH headlight on eBay (they're NLA from Mercedes), so now I'm trying to order the available LH from Mercedes to go with. Of course it's coming from Germany so they won't allow the order without a VIN. If I use mine, they will cancel the order when they see the car is a 92. If someone would be cool with sharing, I'd greatly appreciate it!

Cheers,

Paul, just grab the VIN from any '94 in the classified section (example here).

Also, assuming you are buying a USA-spec light, the dealer should NOT require a VIN to place the order... they are just being difficult. And if it's a Euro-spec light, you'll need to find a Euro VIN in the classifieds and cross your fingers.

Thanks Dave. I was going to do that with a VIN from a listed car, just thought I'd ask here (I always get that permission/forgiveness thing backwards).

Yes, it's just a US spec headlight. Two different sources are telling me they can't order without a VIN because it's coming from Germany. I'll just use one from an old BaT auction.

I've never heard of a US-spec parts order (no matter where the item is residing/shipped from) requiring a VIN for a US buyer.

If that is what you're being required to provide, then I would find a new parts vendor. Have you checked Maui's post on MB of Portland, which seems to offer great prices for high-cost items? Or the MB Naperville free shipping and high discount for members of this forum? Or Tom Hanson of the MB Classic Center?

Use this vin from a 94 E500 I just spotted 2 days ago

I see you are in WA. Which dealer? Ask for Roel at Lynwwod MB and tell him you are friends with Steve Alvine. Or message me and I can probably help.
