Hi Folks
I have problem with my s500, I can't connect to to most of the modules. My car :
  • wdb1400512a366447
  • S500L 19.03.1997 Standard

Is anyone have wiring schematics for this model? I don't know whare to search...
Can module and fuses seems fine , I swaped with different one.
Can didn't work from when I bought it , but now I have a failure. And I can't fix it. High rpm and asr.

I did swapped , maf, few sensors and I checked vaccum for leaks , but all seems fine.
I hope you can help.

Wire diagrams & schematics will be in the WIS... however I have no idea where to start troubleshooting. Your car has ME 1.0 injection system which is completely different than the old-school LH-SFI found in the 500E.

Could be an overvoltage condition. Test the voltage at the battery while that surging is happening. Also, check the condition and tightness of the battery terminals and the separate positive wires at the positive battery terminal.
 
What components are you trying to connect to, what scanner do you have, and where on the vehicle are you attempting to attach the scanner? And you probably already know this, but the adhesive face of your tachometer has severely displaced itself in a counterclockwise direction. That's not your great concern right now, but that's usually easy to repair when you're ready.
 
I'm using chinese c4 head , it works well on my other cars(s500 95, s320 98). Connecting to 38pin socket.
Yeah Tacho is twisted, I saw that in many mercedes cars. :)
 
Hi Guys
After I installed Wis it became that it shows only older models , so it didn't help.
I reminded myself about burned kabels in left mirror , which i ignored before. I decided to inspect it deeper after watching this video
I got off left seat but cabels under the carpet looked healthy. So I cut off all shorted cables in the left mirror

Diagnostics came back to life :)
It did show straight away that valve actuator is bad. Probably potentiometer

Actuator ordered! I hope that will sort the problem.

After I installed Wis it became that it shows only older models , so it didn't help.
The WIS has data on mostly newer models, from mid-1990's to 2020's+. However they can be difficult to locate within the WIS. If you poke around enough you should be able to find schematics for a 1997 140 chassis.

That is lift model. I was pretty sure i added all info like 5gear trans and proper engine code, but all results seemed include modules from pre lift model 1990-1995. I spent few hours on it and I was surprised that it did't show proper results straight away.
 
I'm adding this video for those who want to properly diagnose the throttle problem -
P1580 - High RPM, fluctuating, and then ASR limp mode

It's exactly the same behaviour, and the electric engine is the cause if the potentiometer is not worn out.
My problem was also intermittent at the start, but after it switched into constant...
