I don't think the fuel cost to keep our M119 engines alive is the main problem, the spare parts availability is a pretty dominant problem already. Buying a well maintained and running 036 as a parts car is not a bad idea.
That's true. Is there a list for non-available parts here where the demands is high?

The NLA parts list is very definitely out of date. There are so many parts now that are NLA, that it would require far too much time to research and track this information.

Every year hundreds more parts go NLA on the 036.
I have no experience so I hope you don't mind me asking, just briefly speaking, are those parts mostly the covers/brackets and hoses without electronics involved? I want the W124 to keep alive as much as possible.

No. They are all types of parts all over the car. Brackets, interior trim pieces, body pieces, exhaust system pieces, climate control pieces, rubber pieces, nuts and bolts, and plenty of other things.
