Hello everyone,

Glad to finally join the forum with my 1993 Mercedes-Benz 500E.

The car currently has 52,500 miles, and overall I believe it is in very good condition for its age. It has been well cared for, and my goal is to continue maintaining it properly and keeping it as original as possible.

One of the details that really sold me on this car is the beige interior — in my opinion, it suits the 500E perfectly and gives the cabin a very elegant, classic feel.

I’m looking forward to learning from the knowledge and experience shared here, and to contributing where I can. I’ll be happy to share photos and updates as I continue enjoying and improving the car.

Thanks for having me!

Best regards,
Cem

:welcome5:Looks like a rare 040 black car. I believe the beige interior is also a bit rare for a black car. Looks to be in good shape in the pictures!

Just looked... it's one of 2 in the USA with beige interior. Can you confirm the exterior color is 040 black?

Thank you for the kind words.

Just to clarify, the exterior color is Blue-Black Metallic (199U), not 040 Black. It can definitely look very close to black depending on the lighting.

I actually purchased the car quite recently. To be honest, this forum was extremely helpful during my decision-making process much of the car’s history and prior discussion was already documented here, which gave me a lot more confidence before buying.

For reference, the VIN is WDBEA36E3PB863654.

I really appreciate the knowledge shared by the members here, and I’m glad to finally be part of the community.

Hello everyone,

Today I received the custom beige carpet floor mat set made specifically for our 500E, along with an indoor car cover (with the 500E logo) and a steering wheel cover (also with the 500E logo), and have now installed them in my car.

I’m sharing a few photos of them.

When I bought the car, it came with rubber floor mats from another Mercedes model, which were not a proper fit.

I still have a few more items on my to-do list, and I’ll continue to share updates with you as I complete them.

@cksretrogarage,
The carpets look nice. Would you mind telling me where you got them and what they cost. Would they sell them in black?
Thank you!

I had the carpets custom made for about $100. I’m Turkish, and I had them made by a friend of mine in Turkiye who does this type of work. I brought them with me when I traveled to the U.S.

They can definitely make them in black as well. However, getting them to the U.S. is a bit difficult, as shipping would be quite expensive.

I agree, both fit and finish look great! I wouldn't mind a set myself either to protect the original floor mats instead of the annoying ones I am currently using. You should ask your friend to check shipping cost, it might be worthwhile :)

Would like a set in black if he can do "E500" logo please.

USA residents may want to check out Coco mats... thread here with photos. These go on sale periodically, details here. Shipping overseas may be cost prohibitive, the Cocos are heavy.

:wormhole:

Mats look good! I'd triple or quadruple the size of that 500E logo, as well as add a Mercedes star above or below it. But, they look to be of very high quality.

Hello everyone,

Regarding the floor mat colors some of you asked about, I requested a few photos from my friend who makes them.

He told me that some colors are available in the original patterned fabric. If the preferred colors are anthracite, blue, burgundy, or grey, the mats can be made using the original channel-pattern fabric. They can also be made with plain fabric (like the ones I had made).

Unfortunately, the beige color is not available in the original channel-pattern fabric, so beige mats can only be made in the plain fabric style.

He also mentioned that any text or logo can be added, in any size and placed anywhere on the mats.

The prices are generally the same, but if a different or more special custom design is requested, the price may increase depending on the design.

I will update you again once I receive information about the shipping costs.

Your friend may already know this, but the W124.034/.036 V8 models use V8-specific rear carpets. The more common 6-cyl carpets are slightly larger and do not lay flat on the V8 rear footwells, because the V8 center tunnel is a couple inches wider (due to larger catalysts on the V8). Conversely, the V8 rear mats are too small for a 6-cyl footwell.

I’m not sure if he is aware of that detail, since there are only a few W124.036 cars in Turkey. As far as I know, there are only four in total (3 units of the 500E and 1 E500), plus about three 400E / E420 cars.

Now you made me curious as well. When I have some time, I will go to the garage and take a closer look at the rear mats and their fitment. I will share the details here.

However, when I placed the rear mats in the car earlier, I did not notice any obvious difference. Still, I will check more carefully and report back.

Hello everyone,

I was able to go see the car yesterday and took some photos of the rear floor mats. I didn’t notice any fitment issues, but please take a look as well.

If you like how they look, I’ll ask my friend about making them and sending them, and I’ll get the exact pricing for you.

Looks great!

Double check fitment at the front corners. Ideally these should lay 100% flat, not raised up at all. The inside corner by the trans tunnel is one of the differences between V8 and non-V8, where a non-V8-shaped carpet may not lay flat. On the outer corner, ideally it will not interfere with the front seat mounting bolt area.
