COPS & RODDERS featured model showing and GTG - Placerville, CA - Sept 29 2018

I've been in touch with the current owner of my previous 040 500E (also owned by KarlC for a while), who is helping organize the annual "Cops & Rodders" car show in Placerville CA, near Sacramento. He's a true gentleman and car enthusiast, and owns a number of cool cars -- in addition to one of the nicest 500Es out there. He asked me to help spread the word about this event, and gauge interest in having a GTG/showing.

The event organizers are interested in setting aside space for E500E's, and giving them special recognition at this year's show. They're also hoping to get Mercedes-Benz Corporate involved and participate in the recognition of our cars, which would likely happen if a sufficient number of E500Es turn out.

Would folks be interested in a GTG at the show, and actually showing their cars at the event? Seems like a great opportunity to foster the "collectible modern classic" status of the 036.

I have some additional information on the Cops and Rodders show in September:

The show promoters contacted Mercedes of El Dorado Hills and they have become a sponsor of the event. They will have a Mercedes presence at the event, and will donate an appreciation item for any .036 Mercedes at the show. It has been suggested that any .036 Mercedes entering the event meet at the Mercedes dealership in El Dorado Hills and then travel to the event. There will be allocated spaces for the .036's. It is recommended to be pre-registered.

Hi folks,

Is anyone thinking of attending this show? It's on Saturday, September 29th in Placerville, CA, between Sacramento and Lake Tahoe. The show organizers and Mercedes of El Dorado Hills sound pretty excited about highlighting the 500E, and are reaching out to the enthusiast community to bring the actual cars. Though this is coming right on the tail of all the Pebble Beach activities, it would be a good opportunity to show off those freshly-detailed 036's once more before the dust (or burnt chunks of rubber, as the case may be) starts building up again! Maybe make it part of a Tahoe weekend?

Feel free to PM me if you have any questions, or just reply to this thread. I can also get you in direct contact with the gentleman organizing the 036 side of things. He's a dyed-in-the-wool car guy and will enter his own beautiful 500E in the event. I'll also be there (though I'll have to bring my wagon -- cargo space). I know there are a number of 036s lurking in the Bay Area; would be nice to have a representation up north at this show!

One last update: Mercedes is reserving a section for their cars at the show, and they’re happy to make space for anyone bringing a 500E (or any other Benz) being shown.
