I am currently in the process of selling some genuine refurbished 18x9j ET35 monoblocks. I have had greater success selling them singly rather than as a set - mainly to buyers who have had the misfortune to damage one of their wheels, so their need is greater than someone who merely wants a set for cosmetic purposes. Hence singly they are fetching more money than as a set. One I sold to Australia for £460 PLUS £160 carriage, total cost to buyer £620. Not sure if this helps you to price your's?

Hi Raven. Wow, they are not cheap any more! Really appreciate your help brother, thank you

So refurbishment in this case is a quick wash and plastic wrap on the lip to make it look professional?
That is quite outside refurbished IMO. 😊

If 500AMM is correct, then the potential value I posted earlier would have to be substantially downgraded! The wheels I am selling are pristine:

Hi Eazy,

I think the going price for fully refurbished staggered Monos here in the US would be somewhere around $3,000+ for the set, shipped. Perhaps $2,000-$2500 unrebirb’d. $2,500+ average to good condition.

Cheers,
Gerry

Hi Gerry, thank you very much, that is really helpful and appreciated. Hope all is good with you.

Check out completed sales on MB Market, there have been a number of wheel sets sold there in the past year.

Hi Eazy,

Just note that sometimes auction sites are not totally indicative of the true price of an item -- often prices can be higher on auction sites, especially when there is a war between a couple of bidders. I think a "private sale" would be generally less than an auction, and generally more indicative of the true market price of an item.

That said, if you look across multiple completed auctions for same/similar wheels, you should be able to get a decent idea of the going market price for same/similar wheels.

Good luck !!

So that's about USD $1,000 in UAE. These wheels as advertised would go for probably double that in the US. Definitely at least USD $500-600 each.

Hi everyone, I read through your comments and I’m interested in refurbishing my wheels if that’s even possible.
I have a staggered set of 18 that were originally chrome. Chrome is chipping.
What is the process or refurbishing and how to do
It properly. Also an estimated price will help so I can have a starting point.
At the moment im thinking of scrubbing them all and just paint with 744, just not sure what to do with the lip.
Thanks

Once chrome chips, the wheel will start to corrode. Chrome removal is expensive and very few places will remove it. It's done by chemical stripping.

Typical price for refinishing starts at around $300.00 per wheel and goes up depending on wheel type, condition, and damage. Wheels should always be checked for cracks and straightness before spending money to refinish. Wheels stripped of chrome can be painted but not polished so polished lips would not be an option.

I purchased one rear 18" BBS AMG Split wheel on ebay knowing it was chromed.
I thought I could get rid of the chrome, but no shop was able to. So I ended up using the barrel and putting on my previous spoke plate. And now, my body shop is trying to match all the wheel lips. Let's see how that turns out.

I gave my 4 chromed monoblock 2 to the shop and told them to do the best on removing it and painting silver. He told me about the challenges and I said it has to be done.
Will let u know once they’re done and how they came.

I've always thought the electrochemical process was reversed to remove chrome. It's done on steel materials, but maybe more complicated on aluminium? Or too costly maybe.

Well, my local electro-plating store said tough.
Anyone want a chromed up face plate? LOL

This is what my wheels looked like after the first dechroming pass. Shop said should be fine to powdercoat over.....i called bs. I had them done somewhere else again. The photos of them all clean is what they looked like after.

Process cost me 800$ total plus 600 to powdercoat.
