DC/Maryland/Northern VA Meet on October 6 or October 7???

Any interest among other members in the area in organizing a meet on either October 6 or October 7? I would propose something in the morning before DC area weekend traffic gets out of control. Perhaps the Tysons Corner area??? Other ideas/suggestions welcome.

Let's make this happen!

I am interested -- that is a good weekend for me. Tyson's Corner is right on the Beltway, so a good location. If it is only the two of us, Vienna is even better.

Hey, thank you for the call the other night...sorry I missed you. It's a good weekend for me as well...as long as my wife (8 months pregnant) doesn't deliver in the next week or so...
:bbq:

I will PM ClassicCarsAllDay to see about his availabilty. Would be nice to see his AMG C126!

Thanks for the PM 8889
I am completely up for this.. Cant wait to see some of the finest benz's in one place! Anyone have a good camera?

495+Tysons most likely will be the winner..just hate those SUV shoppers rushing around on their cell phones!
Some random suggestions: (just throwing out ideas)

Vienna Inn (you locals know what i'm talking about :)

Fairfax Corner?

Reston Town Center?

On the 7th (Sunday) their is a Cars and Coffee meet at Fair Lakes Shopping Center in front of the Kohl's, past the sporting goods store. Starts at 8am, runs till 11-12ish. Sounds lame but last weekend, Lotus owners club showed up (20+) cars, and about 40 other cars form all makes and models. Much less crowded than the Katie's event in great falls on Saturday but still pretty well attended.

Henry,

Any of those locations are fine with me. The Vienna Inn parking lot might not be the best location for photos, but chili dogs for lunch would make up for it...

Hey guys....yea, let's nail this down. I am totally flexible with regard to location. Vienna, of course, works for me and I don't think that it is too far from the major interstates if Chris decides to post from the Eastern Shore. Keep in mind though that Vienna has their annual Oktoberfest on Saturday...so we would probably want to avoid that.

Sunday the 7th at the Vienna Inn???

I'm a definite maybe. What time of the day are we talking about? It's a tad more than 100 miles for me, the earlier the better.

Hollybrook... I think the inn is a great location for photos. Whats wrong with three of the best made, classy, stupid expensive when new, Mercedes benz's outside a super dive bar serving chili dogs? I think it contrasts nicely!

In seriousness, place for picture not so good. Loaded chili dogs..very good.
One thing that does concern me...If saturday is out of picture in vienna, sunday at the inn is not so good either...NFL Redskins. :cheers2: nuff said.

But to "nail it down" as 8889 said,
Vienna inn on sunday around noonish?

or if you all want to meet earlier (beat traffic), the Oakton shopping center with the starbucks and the giant/famous dave's might work better? Right off 66 to make it easy for Allgonquin (I cant eat chili dogs at 10am)

Since Chris is coming from so far away, maybe we should let him set the time.

I agree. And Chris, if you think Vienna/Oakton makes the trip that much further for you...then we could always find something right around Tyson's Corner with quicker access to the beltway (495).

OK, I'm in. Truthfully after looking at the photo of the Vienna Inn on Street view from Google Maps, I must be missing the local charm aspect! But I'll let you guys pick the venue since you offered to let me pick the time. How about 11-ish. That way we can maybe jabber for a while and then grab a bite and I can make it back home in time for some chores in the late afternoon.

So pick a spot and I'm aiming to be there around 11, if that's OK. And truthfully, if it's raining, I think I'll pass.

And I'll lobby for the next meet here on the Eastern Shore...

Finally, we are talking about Sunday, right?

Rgds,
Chris

8889 and HollyBrook I agree. I was typing a response when Chris posted.

8889 It's your event...pick the place and time and i'm there!

Vienna Inn this Sunday at 11:00am. As for the local charm aspect of this place...a quote from a Yelp.com review of the Vienna Inn:

This particular restaurant can either be dirty or vintage, depending on your personality.
I've been going to this dive since high school... and it hasn't changed a bit.

There should be adequate parking in the back or I would actually prefer to park in the lot for the Nails Etc. near the WO&D Trail.

Here is the latest weather forecast:

The weekend hinges on the uncertain timing of a cold front. This forecast is definitely subject to change, but for now I’d lean toward a partly sunny weekend with Saturday highs in the 70s, Sunday highs in the 60s with a cool breeze, and the best chance of showers from Saturday evening through Sunday morning.

And remember, the Redskins play at 1:00pm on Sunday...a home game.

Sounds great -- I'll be there.

We'll have to compare notes about Vienna, as I grew up in the area as well.

Grrrrr....tomorrow's weather forecast is not looking so good... "Periods of showers or light rain (80% chance) continue on and off through the day, with the heaviest activity perhaps coming during morning or midday."

The radar looks pretty ugly this morning - the line of rain is arriving very shortly. I'm pulling the plug. If you guys go ahead I hope it's a good meet - I'll try to make the next one.

Rgds,
Chris

Chris - I don't blame you. I clearly picked the wrong day weatherwise. Perhaps we try to meet in Easton sometime in the spring.

Hope to see Henry and Hollybrook later on this morning.

It was a just a bit soggy...but nonetheless great to meet Hollybrook and Henry for some car talk. Props to Henry, who could not stand the thought of bringing his AMG C126 out in the wet....so brought his jellybean instead.

Next time we'll do this when the sun it out!

:lolol: Yeah, Ill chalk it to "New Car-itis" as Hollybrook said. Great meeting both of you today, and great cars that you both have! Hopefully next time the weather is better and I get over my "itis" and bring the fun one out.
