Hello, i've bought a e420 w210 96' some time ago, i wanted to change the spark plugs, after i changed them the car is running on 1 cylinder bank (drivers side is working) i diagnosed it and the computer says its the crankshaftsensor, so i replaced that and its still not working, things i checked are:

cables from the ecu to the ignition coil and injectors, those are fine, tried swapping ignition coils and makes no difference.
its getting fuel and power.
it will run for a moment and after it gets a little bit hot it wont start again till its cooled down,
The brakelight switch is broken and ive read that it can cause some problems,

can anybody help me please..?
(sorry if my english is not that great im from the netherlands)

it was running very fine before the change, and you mean the connectors to the ingition coils?
Yes, if it ran fine before hand. I would replace the boots, and change the plugs to whatever brand was in there as well as checking all the connection. I'd also make sure that there's no oil pooling in the plug holes which happens when the cam cover gasket fails.

Well there was oil in the plug holes thats why we changed the cam gasket and spark plugs, but replacing the boots does not matter i think because we change ing. coils from the working side to the other and it did not make any difference. all cables/connectors are fine. so?

we have a new problem, the car is not getting off the immobilizer? keeps flashing alternaty red and green, cranks but wont fire up at all now...
what could cause this?

DAS issues. That can be fun to diagnose...

Disconected the Batterie for a while.then try to open the car with the infrared when you have luck all is fine, other way is bad. check the infrared singnal from the the key (Low Batterie or Brocken soldering for the push botton inside the key).for my 2 210 with ME 1,0 Motronic i have the Immo off and open close with Funk, Aftermarket .I dont like this grenn red lighning Circus. I hope can help a little,

Current fault codes?
Hello gsxr i have same issue with my 97 e420 i remove the engine to replase all the seal and now the car doesn’t want to start ,i got spark and fuel and my timing is perfect after i crank the engine couple time i got a code for both crankshaft and camshaft sensor. I replaced them and no result .i have a feeling that it could be the chip on the key ,if the chip is not working on the key is there a way to find out??

Did you do any work to the valvetrain / camshafts? Are you certain the cam timing is correct, AND the sprocket for the driver intake cam is in the correct position? I can't remember if it can be installed incorrectly.

If DAS is preventing the engine from starting, the lights in the rearview mirror should flash red/green alternately, IIRC.
