Hi all I have a question the 6.0 AMG m119 what would be a fair value ? there is one for sale right now so just trying to see if it's worth to buy.

also if anyone knows on how different m119 from w140 to m119 w124 ?

thanks

no just. the engine
Probably worth about 5k for a good used genuine original low miles AMG E60 motor would be a fair price(?) As it would likely take more than that to attempt to recreate!

Note the Engine control module and EZL are specific to that motor and can be pricey or hard to find if not supplied with the motor.

@gsxr and others will know more on this I'm sure.

I’ve seen 2 AMG Motors for sale lifetime and both have been asking $12-$15K not
Sure about modules EZL etc. that’s above my knowledge.

Thanks for this. Those are slightly batshit prices IMHO although I could be totally wrong and out of touch....

It would be good to know what people actually have PAID for such motors.

I haven't seen an AMG 6.0L engine for sale for under ~$10k USD in many, many years. If one can be had for ±$5k (or even £5k!), I'm interested.

I can supply the LH module if needed, but it isn't cheap. The 5.0L EZL works well with the 6.0L engine.

:v8:

@gsxr is the man to carry on with this discussion. I was just commenting on what I have seen in the 5+ years I had been looking for a good .036, 3 of them wasted as I had no knowledge of this forum 'til early spring of 2019. In that vehicle search I saw 2 M119 AMG motors for sale and both were between that price range $12-$15K. Never seen anything for less than that.

there is one for sale and the guy is asking 25k EZL and harness included 54kkm on from Japan
Ouch. That seems high unless it's a NOS crate motor, as Drew is describing below. Harness isn't of value (same as 5.0L), EZL if HWA would be a nice collector's item but also not needed. The LH module is the key to making it work. For $25k, Blue Ridge might be able to build you a fresh zero-mile motor.

I know of one with 0 miles that sold for $20,000+
I remember that engine. Killer deal... owner sold it a few years later, the new owner is one lucky dude.

do know how different is the m119 from w140 to w124 ?

This has been documented elsewhere on the forum, but the main differences are the upper+lower oil pans, exhaust manifold, and probably some brackets & other tidbits.

Also remember if the donor is a 119.98x coil-on-plug engine, a pile of other parts need to be replaced, if the engine will be installed in a 400E/500E.

119.980 much cheaper, because much more works for replacing parts, but if everything done right you can have 440 HP, but even 119.980 rare nowdays

even that 12-15k is cheap now, i bought mine with tranny from collided e60 w124 1994 year, about 5 years ago for 12k euro, and spent another 12 to overhauling, and enforce tranny.

OK so then the $30K is the market correct price if found I guess. These engines, like the cars and many other MB items and AMG items are needle in haystack finds so when found there is little to no room for price haggling in my opinion. If you score for less then great! For ex. I bought my car in 3 mins for ask. No hesitation, no regrets. I am sure someone else would be the owner now if I had not done that. But I don't mean to spend anyone else's money. Bottom line is, if you find an AMG engine and can afford it. Buy it!

real truth, i dont know anybody who randomly bought 6.0 engine, and that it, also if you exactly know what to do with this engine, honestly besides budget its a real headache and takes so long time and attention lol
