Here's an overview on how to use the EPC. Not all of the functions are available with the "free" version of the EPC available to US folks, but this gives a nice how-to on how to navigate the EPC and use the important features and functions.

Cheers,
Gerry

They keep making changes and improvements to this EPC all the time, too. It's a bit tricky to use on the 50s cars.

Great post, Gerry, many thanks for sharing. :-)

:update:

Guys,
I am a little embarrassed that it took me this long to sign up for the EPC!
First, I would like to apologize to everyone here, especially to Dave and Gerry, for asking about part numbers. I just thought you guys were like the Wizard of OZ; you know, just ask and presto, the numbers would "appear."
No one ever got upset with me here and tolerated my constant requests for part numbers (up to the time of this posting) knowing I was new to the maintenance world.
As usual, you told me to sign up for the EPC, but I thought that it would be too difficult, so I did not do it over the last three years.
Now, I am like a kid in a candy store looking at parts.
This really is easy and I highly recommend it.

BTW, I signed up for Worldwide EPC $12.00, as the Free version would not go through.

Congrats, Trae! Be warned, EPC access is dangerous to your bank account...

;)

Yes, I am tempted with easy access to part numbers.
I noticed that you cannot copy and paste the numbers, ie. . . I had to get the old school paper and pen to actually WRITE.
Tell me there is a better way.

Hmmm...I wonder if that's a conspiracy to drive revenue..... Naah, couldn't be !!

You should be able to CONTROL-C and CONTROL-V (cut and paste) numbers from the EPC into the parts.com site for obtaining pricing.

I use the following [bookmarked] link for entering part numbers & getting prices at parts.com: http://www.parts.com/parts/index.cf...ear=&searchText=&action=oePartSearch&siteid=2

Left-click to select the number, then right-click on the part number and select "Copy to clipboard". It copies the leading letter which you'll need to remove when pasting into ordering websites though.

You can also add parts to your shopping list at the bottom of the screen, by clicking the checkbox next to the part number. Then you can print off the shopping list. No pencil required.

I wish EPC worked on a Mac without having to run two operating systems. I have a Macbook in the house and a Windows notebook in my shop.
