FYI Exploring the Super MB Star M6+ Diagnostic System

Ok latest update from Seven. They supposedly have a new version of the software 6/2025 that is getting ready to release. It fixes the issue of HHT not launching from DAS. Seven says it is being tested and will be released within 18 days. He wants me to return the SSD out of the system and they will send me the new SSD once it’s ready. He sent me a video of it working if it was in fact the new version he was really showing me. I am thinking this might be an acceptable solution but I think I still need to check the cable further.

After after this I connected the M6 again and ran another quick test from DAS. This time it did show all the modules, PSE for example showed it has an error. Then ran short test in HHT directly and it still doesn’t see the modules in question. See attached photos. I’m highly suspect of either the 38pin cable or the M6 being able to access all the modules on these 210 cars.
Are you confidant that HHT has the "model-specific HHT module" for your 99 210? I see DAS/DAS2 not DAS3 in your screenshot. Did HHT present two menu options for 210 - 210 and 210(DAS3)?

Hi guys. I am new to the forum and to Mercedes diagnostics.

But i have 2 Mercs and both need some work. Diagnostic work.

I purcghased the latest Super Mb Pro M6+ including the cables and the Panasonic tablet.

After plugging into my 2011 plate E350 . I decided to look at the rollover bar issue on my CLK 320 (a208).

While performing the test. DAS Fails to launch When selecting an unsupported fault.
I get an error in the DAS window telling me that HHTWIN is not installed. ( even tho HHTWIN is on my desktop and I am able to manually launch HHTWIN ).

Running HHTWIN manuall;y my A208 is not listed in the supported model ranges. HHTWIN from what i have read should auto launch and display the correct modules for my A208.

Please can anyone help

Your 208 needs the HHT "B" cartridge software as seen in post #136 earlier in this thread. I think normally, DAS would launch this, but you have a software error which is preventing it from working correctly. And, I don't know if it's possible for HHT-Win to launch directly to the "B" cartridge software.

What vendor did you buy the M6+ kit from? You'll need to contact them for tech support.

:runexe:

Purchased from OBD2shop.Co.uk.

I have already noticed the USB port on the tablet is broken . And contacted them about this . & the HHT / DAS issue .
I am awaiting a response . But thought I’d look on the Forums see if this is something that has been discussed and a fix .

If you bought it from Seven, they have a new version of the software that is supposed to fix the HHt issue. I sent my SSD back and he is supposed to be sending me the new version.

Seven ? I purchased mine online . Obd2shop.Co.uk

I have started a ticket with obd2shop about the issues .
I am waiting for them to respond.

Ah right . Yes mine didn’t come from ChinaCarDiag . Unless OBD2Shop.Co.uk supply from there as my tablet was sent secondary from china . How would I know ? Is there a way to find out .
Probably not, they are all made in China and some (probably most) vendors drop ship direct to the customers from there.

The UK based guy I have used in the past also sells the M6+ but holds them in stock in the UK AFAIK

Just a thought from a recent discussion in another thread on here, have you tried running HHTWIN with a -b208 switch?

HHT runs on the device as a standalone application .

DAS fails to launch HHT win .

But when launched as standalone 208 is not in the list .

Sorry if I am not understanding you . I see no options for adding b208 when HHT is launched

Right click on HHTPKW icon on Windows desktop.
Click on Properties.
Copy the target - should be a path to the HHTWIN executable probably ending in /hhtwin.exe
Open a CMD window as Administrator.
Paste the copy from Target and append -b208
Hit enter and HHTWIN should start with -b208 as a parameter.

BTW, the two websites seem almost identical and both are even advertising the HHTWIN fix as shipping (2025.06).
Different numbers so Seven knows what accent to use on whatsapp - just kidding.

Lol🤣 thank you . I will try this.

Will this be the same method on a tablet ? I have the Panasonic tablet version not a laptop.

Yes, it should be the same.
I have had a response from OBD2shop.Co.uk.

Not very helpful tbh . Seems they just keep wanting images of a broke. USB port ( which the photo doesn’t really show the damage. So I sent them a video showing the inside connector of the port wobbles up and down / broken ) hence no USB connection and the USB errors while trying to plug in cables and use software.

They also asked me to do a remote connection with an engineer.
Issue here is that due to the USB fault I can only connect to the diagnostic tool via the Wi-Fi . And of course while this is using the Wi-Fi . My tablet can not use the Wi-Fi for internet at the same time . So remote viewing is also not going to help.

If it was me, I would cut my losses and return what you have for a refund - then consider an alternative to the M6+ as these seem to be trouble (personal experience and reading about others in this thread) and go for something perhaps C4 based. I have a C5 and it has behaved flawlessly on a 1998 38 pin and 2010 ODB cars.

Problem is, the C4 systems have their own problems, including 38-pin cables that lack all 38 pins. Most likely this would result in trading out different problems.

Also - I have a feeling the software could be the same for M6+ and C4 systems. If so, downgrading the hardware wouldn't help.

Two (less than brilliant) questions:

1. Ethernet? Panasonic tablet should have an ethernet port. M6+ has an ethernet port. Caution on the static IP address instructions you may have received with the unit. Reference post #131.

2. I assume you have checked both pages of the HHTWIN model selection screens for 208.

My tablet only has usb & HDMI .

And yes I have checked both pages . Only one variant on page 2

Maybe but the C4 has a lot more history in the market and reported issues are relatively low - cable pin connections aside.

I voted with my feet and went back to my C5 although that was as much Seven's attitude to selling me an item not fit for purpose and not refunding my return postage.

Incidentally, I did recently buy a C3 setup for a decent price which couldn't see the RV (Soft Top) module on my R129 so I am returning it - that is most likely a cable issue I think. I asked the seller a lot of questions but foolishly omitted to question the cable.

Looks like @gsxr was spot on in post #154.

Welcome to the HHT Cartridge B Club!

Hopefully, @gsxr was correct that DAS, when it is properly able to launch HHTWIN, will also supply the
Cartridge B software.

Could you share (possibly PM if it is against posting rules) where you purchased the C3 setup. I'm also walking that road and have been in contact with one seller. Unfortunately, when I asked the 38 pin cable question, the answer was an (uncertain) maybe 7 or 8 wires (conductors). The wiring diagram for my car shows ~22 pins in use on the 38 pin connector.

It is a UK eBay seller so probably not who you are dealing with if you are in the US.

Good news. OBD2 shop have asked me to return the Tablet for an exchange. Due to the USB port being broken.

They firstly want to replace the tablet before they attempt remotely diagnosing the software issues . ( HHTWIN ) that I mentioned in previous post .

So Seven asked me to send back the SSD that was in the tablet 2-3 weeks ago. It is a very small drive more like a stick of memory. I wrapped it inside a padded mailer, then inserted it in a normal yellow padded mailer. Seven sends me a message last week with pics saying the package was empty. Told him to look inside the white envelope. Over the weekend the new drive arrived. I insert it and then send a message to seven asking if they looked in the envelope and found the SSD, also needed to activate the software. Last night setup teamviewer and he activated everything.

This morning he sends me another message about how the package was empty. In the meantime I go out to my 211 to test the system. Xentry still has error about no valid start key so for some reason the license did not take. I launched DAS stand alone and everything worked fine. I then connected it to my 99 e300 with the 38 pin connector. Worked perfectly fine and launched HHT automatically when needed.

Satisfied with all except the start key issue for Xentry, I responded to seven that again, the SSD was shipped back inside the inner white padded envelope, and the start key still not valid for Xentry. He says they will do another team viewer in the morning (tonight).

Seven then insists again the SSD is missing. I look them up on Amazon and they $20 or less. I ask him if he would like me to send him $20. He responds that the drive is $70 but he will take $50. I tell him how about I send you $50, then I send the whole thing back for a refund, he responded with a PayPal link. Wow. So we are almost 2 months in from order date and I just now have a semi working system. If it wasn’t for this BS with the SSD I would be satisfied. Truth is I probably should have just bought an updated DOIP C4 system somewhere else. I have thought about mentioning that there is a rather large number of folks awaiting my results before they order a system from and is he sure he wants to extort more money out of me as it will cost him future business. Not to mention I was getting ready to order a Xhorse system from him to do keys and modules.

Well I received the replacement tablet due to broken USB .
I was asked to remove the SSD from the old device and put it into the replacement once it arrived .

After inserting the SSD I then had to get the software re registered via Remote Desktop.
At this point I pointed out the HHT issue via WhatsApp messaging . and a communication error that kept popping up. WhatsApp messaging while the engineer is controlling my tablet . They said they would get the engineer to sort this while logged in . When I next looked at the screen the engineer had logged off only registering the software.

I sent a message and video photos to the WhatsApp number about the still ongoing issues . The reply I got made me chuckle.
“ the engineer said it’s due to the old software not being fully compatible . And I would need to send the SSD back for an updated version .

So now I am sitting at a total of £60 in shipping sending stuff back .
I just hope that when I get the replacement SSD and it’s registered again that all the issues are sorted out.

And that I don’t get “ the SSD card wasn’t in the envelope “ situation. So far OBD2shop have been really helpful and very quick with responding and arranging replacements .
Just would have made more sense to send the tablet & SSD at the same time.

Well if you send the SSD back I would take a VIDEO of you inserting it into the package and sealing it up. I’m not sure why they are not seeing the SSD, package did not appear to be damaged. I’m not sure what their game would be either aside from trying to get another $50 out of me. If they think I kept it what would ne the point of that.

I wouldn’t assume that the vendor is being nefarious trying to get an extra $50 back. Its v possible someone / customs / whatever / uncareful / stole it. I had a beautiful Technics radio from a Japan market w124 shipped to me some years ago …. But the box never arrived. To this day tracking number still shows it in usps customs.

That said, the Chinese vendors need to up their game when dealing directly with western customers in terms of cust service 💯.

Well Seven is back on me wanting me to pay them $50. When I mentioned I will send it but that I am also looking for a xhorse VVDI setup suddenly he wants to deal. I will search the page and perhaps post another posting for that, but does anyone have one of those? I want to be able to duplicate keys and I believe it also will code modules such as the ISM, EIS etc etc.
