No affiliation. The gray overload (i.e., grille+shell) is a bit much. Wrong headlights (LHT, Japan-spec). Neat car though.

VIN = WDB1240301B278370

Datacard:

No Reserve: 1990 Mercedes-Benz 300E 3.2 AMG

This 1990 Mercedes-Benz 300E is a left-hand-drive Japanese-market example modified by an AMG subsidiary in Japan to 3.2-liter specification and equipped with AMG wheels, exhaust, and bodywork. The car is finished in Anthracite Grey Metallic over a black leather interior, and additional equipment includes an electric sunroof, burl wood interior trim, dual-zone climate control, cruise control, a Technics AM/FM cassette stereo, and a four-speed automatic transmission. The car was imported from Japan under previous ownership in 2015, and work carried out in preparation for the sale is said to have included replacing the timing chain, tensioner, and guide rails as well as the oil pump, chain, tensioner, and tensioner spring. This W124 shows 129k kilometers (~80k miles) and is now offered at no reserve in New Jersey with import documents, some service records, and a clean Delaware title in the name of the seller’s business.
The body is finished in Anthracite Grey Metallic (172) and features an AMG body kit as well as a color-matched grille and trim. Additional equipment includes an electric sunroof, headlamp wipers, fog lights, and dual exhaust outlets. The rear windows wear aftermarket tint film, which shows fading. The seller notes a dent in the grille, paint chips, and clear coat failure around the body. Close-up images of the blemishes are presented in the gallery.
Body-color 17″ AMG Monobloc wheels feature polished lips and are mounted with 205/55 Continental ExtremeContact Sport Plus tires. Braking is handled by four-wheel discs that were replaced in June 2022.
The cabin is trimmed in black leather (261) with burl wood accents on the dashboard, center console, gear selector, and door panels. Interior amenities include a Technics AM/FM cassette stereo, dual-zone climate control, cruise control, power-adjustable front seats, and power windows, mirrors, and door locks. The wood trim was reportedly refurbished under previous ownership. The seller notes that the volume knob works intermittently and the radio only receives lower FM frequencies.
An AMG four-spoke steering wheel fronts white AMG-branded instrumentation that consists of a combination gauge, a 300-km/h speedometer, and a tachometer with a 7k-rpm redline as well as an inset clock. The six-digit odometer shows 126k kilometers (~78k miles), approximately 1k of which have been added by the seller.
The 3.0-liter M103 inline-six was modified by AMG to 3.2-liter specification and sends power to the rear wheels through a four-speed automatic transmission. Work in 2021 is said to have included removing and cleaning the fuel tank as well as replacing the fuel pump, fuel filter, harmonic balancer, and air filter mount. An oil change and cooling system flush were performed in 2022 in addition to the replacement of the following parts and components:
  • Timing chain
  • Timing chain tensioner
  • Timing chain guide rails
  • Oil pump
  • Oil pump chain
  • Oil pump tensioner
  • Oil pump tensioner spring
Additional underside photos are presented in the gallery. An AMG body tag shows the commission number, VIN, and engine serial number.

Everything seems correct on this car. Passenger side headlight wiper motor is shot and needs replacement. It also has a extremely rare storage bin in the trunk, which is not a AMG item but was available as a Mercedes option.

@gsxr I kinda like the gray overload... Anthracite is such an awesome color. (y)
And that air intake hose is legit AMG, unfortunately if it was ever stolen, I think they are NLA! :jono:
The air intake hose is not an AMG item, its brake duct tubing, even used on older air cooled 911's, so if it needs to be replaced, it can be sourced

The monochrome look is SUCH a 80’s / 90’s AMG trademark. Instantly distinguished the cars, which you would need for what they were charging. “Stealthy” didn’t play well for damned near double MSRP, especially not in the 80’s.
