This is very interesting!

year 1991 M103 3.4L AMG sells for $67k!!

I never thought 6 cyl AMG's were in such high demand!

I guess its because its a Baby AMG Hammer!

Rarity is the answer. Over 10.000 E500E’s built, there will always be 036’s on the market in various conditions.

The pre-merger AMG conversions were all very rare, with some models only a handful or two ever made, like the A124 3.4 convertible with around seven built.

This one ended RNM today at $47k. Sucks to not be Dean when you are selling.

$47k is still pretty good final selling price. I guess 6 cyl AMG cars still have some fans! @gsxr

That's a really neat 3.4 indeed, Dave! And nothing to add to 'not being Dean (L.) sucks when you're selling', that turned my face into a huge SMILE, 'cause you're so right..

NOW, wait for this one then.. I'm cautious as not knowing if 'cross-threads' are welcome/wished, but seeing your comment with the green AMG-contribution somehow assured me, and so please accept another EXTRA AMG-car with I've seen (again through 'FB'..)

This one has 990 code on its data card - as far as my aging sight allowed me to recognise (and try some 10-15 different ones, the ad doesn't show it anywhere!) the VIN on one/two of the photos - on the crossmember plate '990' can be quite easily 'identified' too..

Six days to go on auction, and current bid is € 3,000 !! Apparently located in Belgium

Car and Classic - 300CE-24 3.4 AMG 1991 ( 1 of 25?) Code 990 - WDB1240511B613893 -

I bought that one. Thats my second 3.4 AMG coupe.
Going in friday to pick it up in Luxemburg and we are driving to Croatia.

In my opinion, the 3.4 sedan will never be worth more than the E500/500E in the future.
Simply put, the E500 is a much better car, and regardless of how rare the 3.4 is, when it comes to choosing between an inline-six and a V8 — everyone will go for the V8! That’s exactly why so few E36 sedans were made — because the real option was the E500.

In fact, the E500 killed both the 3.4 and the E36.

When it comes to the coupe, cabriolet, and estate versions of the W124, there was no real alternative — the top of the line is either the 3.4 AMG or the E36 AMG. Those will always be worth much more than the 3.4 or E36 sedans.
I was offered an E36 sedan for the same price as an E500. Only 12 were made, and it was RHD, but I didn’t want to add it to the collection — I just don’t see how it could ever compare to the E500 in terms of looks and presence.

From a technical point of view, I’m not sure how much lighter the I-6 engine in the E36 is compared to the V8 in the E500 but even if E36 is faster still everyone wants V8…

Congrats! @Goran124 👌🏽😉

You have purchased a really good example of the C124 with the sweetest AMG upgrades of the time (early 1990s).

Wow.. I've seen the rise on bidding was strong on the last day (Oct. 24th - starting at €20k), as it was steeply pushed by other 'competitors' until your final bid of €34k won!

Enjoy your trip and get back safe from Belgium to Croatia on Friday!

Alberto
