Hello, my name is kris live in south Korea.
I bought 94 w124 4matic m103 3.2 amg reacently very rare in our country and could not
have information about my car. I send e-mail to classic AMG and found that they have serviced record.
I would like to know how many 4matic 3.2 amg were made by AMG at that time.
Also want to know market value of this car.
Classic AMG said it must be 4matic is pretty rare but difficult to answer that.

Thanks..

Very nice looking car and with only 43.7K km/ 27K miles. I have no clue as to value but it’s definitely a rare car. Can you share more information and photos?

Interesting it's a 3.2L instead of the M104 3.4L which was already being offered as one of the first MB-AMG vehicles a few years before this car was manufactured.

I see it's German ordered but did this car spend any time in Japan? Any chance someone just swapped in the motor?

I think very rare anywhere! I certainly haven't come across or heard of any 4Matic 3.2L AMGs.

I'd be curious to know if AMG Classic has info on this engine or your VIN?

I checked for any 957/990 coded 124.230 chassis but didn't find any. Can't differentiate the datacards so unless AMG Classic provides something I don't see of any other way to find out how many of these were made.

AFAIK, there were never any 4Matics produced in the 124 chassis with M104 engine... only M103 (in USA), and OM603 diesels (ROW).

Oooo, good question. I could totally see AMG Japan doing some crazy stuff like this. :D

First I've ever heard of any 124 chassis 4Matic with AMG powerplant. Cool stuff!

Ah the good ol' "The date of the modification done with us in Affalterbach, Germany is documented, but nothing much more"
Of course it's only the date, every single time it seems

"If you would like to order an certificate of originality, that can increase the value of your vehicle, you can do so by any[?] Mercedes Benz dealership."

The way I'm going to keep seeing this is; Ah yes we have it in our archives but just a date and nothing else. That'll be $700. Tanks

@krislee Checkout my post on what you can expect to receive regarding the certificate mentioned.

@TimL... interesting AMG is referring people to MKB for pre-merger engine needs!

:scratchchin:
Could this be a bone that Mercedes AMG is throwing MKB? AMG doesn’t seem to be interested in doing classic work and since MKB was founded by Melcher, they might just channel some of the business that can be had in this space MKB’s way. Who knows? 🤷🏽‍♂️

I find it inexcusable that AMG can only state "We know VIN [xxxxx] was modified by us on [this date], but we have no other information whatsoever. We might have just bolted on AMG wheels, or maybe we hand-built a stroker engine. Your guess is as good as ours. "

Riiiiight. And to get a letter stating the above costs $700? That's pathetic.

I have a 300TE 4Matic and love it purely because it's an AWD W124, but not for working on it, lol. I only know of one other W124 AMG 4Matic and that is a 300TE.

It floated around on the internet in 2007 but I haven't seen anything about it since. The user has been inactive for a long time, and you can find the thread on benzworld.

Fun fact: AMG even made custom springs, they're pretty much unicorn-level rare though.

As per last vin decoder the order location isFrankfurt Germany.
623 refers to the color therein as its the color code for bright or light ivory.

623 doesn't refer there to the country code also is the second "location" code missing in the list. 623 would be gulf state version and an additional code would be required to identify the exact country. I.e. 623 (GCC) & 849 (Kuwait) for example.

Also some other rare options on this car as the trunk mounted fridge and stationary heater, heated seats etc.
A thoughtfull spec for winter usage in the alps.
A look into the service booklet could reveal more details.

As correctly stated, the 4 Matics were only available in the 603/103 combinations until end of production.

Sell my 300TE 4 Matic 3.2 AMG.
The car is almost fully equipped and was converted into 3.2 with 172 kw in October 1991 at AMG.
This conversion is documented accordingly by the vehicle papers. The first letter from 1990 and the original checkbook are still available. The last previous owner drove the car from 2009 to 2011 and had it completely repainted.
Since then the car has been deregistered.

It has matching numbers.
But why no compression ratio engraved?

Offtopic. I opened this thread on 126board. Brabus M117-16V 6.0 with 405 PS !! | C126 / W126 AMG & Tuner Cars
No indicated compression is needed on an M103-block after 09/1986, as all of them after that date had 9,2:1 ratio (both KAT & RÜF) - only the first two years (more like 20 months, as from 11/1984) of its production an ECE-version was built with compression 10:1 and exclusively for W124 vehicles, then W126 2nd gen got again the (KAT/RÜF) with 9,2:1

Edit: for the same reason, as I was reading another thread (about a possible JP-AMG 3.4 24v conversion of a black W124031 which was sold a few weeks/months ago!), M104 (2.8/3.0/3.2) engines always had a 10:1 compression ratio (with a unique exception of W202028 cars that were factory built/converted and directly sold as C36s - these ones featuring 10,5:1 and 280PS/276HP)

@weide1

Yes, of course you are right about all the different versions with lower compression for certain countries/markets, where fuel quality and regulations made this necessary.. Thank you again for makjng this remark and showing my lack of awareness - I recognise I've only taken markets like Europe and North America into consideration with my expressed tjoughts!

I will definitely read the article you linked above 👌🏽🙏🏽

Let's put the data of that Chinese W140033 with CAT-deletion (code 828 and compression 8,8:1) here for general observation too:
