FOR SALE FS: 1992 500E Pearl Black/Black, 200kmi, $3k (Los Angeles, CA)

Re: FS 1992 500E Pearl Black?/Black 200K mi $3,000

By "new low", did you mean in pricing or condition???

Re: FS 1992 500E Pearl Black?/Black 200K mi $3,000

Captruff should snag that, fenders bumpers and LH should net 3k alone. (ask me how I know) :txflag:

Re: FS 1992 500E Pearl Black?/Black 200K mi $3,000

Ok I just texted seller. Pretty close to me

Oh I hope it has a clean right side heat shield!

Re: FS 1992 500E Pearl Black?/Black 200K mi $3,000

Jeff, I could use the diff among other things.

That thing looks roached....would be a sweet car to do a motor swap with. E55 motor anyone??? Lol!

I remember this car... the black wheels are the giveaway. Need the VIN to find the previous forum thread. IIRC, it was for sale at a small used-car lot a few years ago? Would be a shame to part it out, looks like a prime candidate for a track rat... 200k on the odometer and bad paint doesn't automatically mean it should be stripped and junked. Last I heard, MB wasn't making any more of these.

:oldman:

Either way, it is one less so that others can live! Now then, where is that picture Gerry posted on the carcass? (I saw that very real life scenario this morning. Deer lost the bet, the 12-15 turkey vultures were feasting on the death) Small children cried as mom spilled her latte in the rented Lexus going to daycare!

Valid point. If by chance the car is rust free and straight it would be tough to see that one head to the 124 slaughter house (aka Captruff's shop) :sawzall:

Should I purchase the car, I do plan an evaluation before I decide to go straight to parting the car out.

Jeff

I can sense a petition starting already... SAVE THE 036!!

:jono:

I wanted to see this again:

I agree with GSXR, whoever buys this thing shouldn't part it. Tired paint doesn't automatically mean useless car. Swap the motor (or leave be if your heart desires) put some aftermarket recaros, harness, and a cage in it and get out and drive it!!! Would make a sweet mercedes rat rod

Exactly! The interior may be worn out, but for a rat rod / track rat, you'll gut it anyway and put in a race bucket or two. Probably shave 200+ pounds in the process. Only expense would be fixing fluid leaks and replacing worn suspension components, but with a $3k entry point you'll still end up with a bargain race car...

:3gears:

GSXR and his "track rat" meme ..... LOL.

How many E5ers have ACTUALLY been turned into track rats, besides Jono's, anyway?!?

Well, there is Jonos... and... um... lemme think... I'll get back to you on that one. :wormhole:

Hey, if there was a tired $3k .036 in Boise, believe you me it would be promptly track ratted. Pretty sure I could get a stripped 036 into the 12's with only a 5 liter and no spray.

Hmmm..... Interesting idea. :scratchchin:

Jeff,

You pick that car up yet!?

If not.... :burnout:

Hmm ... echoes of 400Eric, this one has .....
I'll take that as a compliment. 400Eric was able to get some pretty amazing performance out of a 400E with stock gearing. :jono:

I've managed to get the red 500E project into 13.7's up here at 2700' elevation... pretty sure it would crack into 13.4's at sea level. Now, with the complete interior removed and a tailwind.... hmmm...

Methinks this is more your style, gsxr .... :stickpoke:

Damn it I'm normally on top of this Craigslist business. I can't believe I missed this car! Congrats bud. Please don't part the car!
