LOL! That guy needs a new pair of glasses so he can properly see what those "500e's with over 200k miles" are selling for.

Given the low miles, nice color, 2 owner history, rare wheels, and fixable damage... the price isn't outrageous. But it's no bargain either.

Assuming there's no hidden damage I bet that's a $7-$10k repair bill including parts, labor, and paint. Maybe less if you have friends or family that own a body shop.

:duck:

The fender and front bumper thread seems relevant to this sale. Friends and family body shop discount would be nice. I need one of those. Love the color combo on this car. Hopefully someone brings it back to life. Someone is dumping big money into a 500E at Robert Fenton's shop and this looked like a much better place to start from than that car.

I wish I had garage space to buy it and fix it. I could --walk-- there from my house. This will be the 3rd 500E that I know lives within walking distance. The west side of SF is nuts like this - houses look very modest on the outside, but you never know what treasures folks have stuffed in the garage.

Owner sounds pretty legit upset about the crash so that sucks...hope he got insurance money.

the owner should come here and get some help fixing this thing and back on the road and keep it!

Seller is in San Francisco, and the guy looking for the parts is in SoCal... pretty sure they are different people. Sounded like the guy looking for the parts is interested in buying the car, but only if he can source replacement parts cheap. And he's finding out there are no cheap bumpers or fenders to be found anymore. All the parts are available new from MB though.

:spend:

Nice find! Any idea what the price is on the fenders, and if they include the NLA cladding/moulding?

:apl:

The front fenders are $200 each. The seller is checking on the status of the lower cladding piece that attaches to the fenders and will get back to me later tonight or tomorrow.

Deal of the century! I bet those won't last long, with or without cladding.

:gor-gor:

Jlaa,
Are you going to go take a look at it? That is pretty amazing that it is walking distance.

That looks like a brilliant silver car.. Since you already have a signal red 500e as well, you can recreate the film Taxi all on your own if you were to get this one as well, Jlaa :D

Stevester,

The seller, who is reading this board, declined my request to look at the car for you. He mentioned that he has enough interest in the car from other potential buyers in LA, Toronto, and San Diego.

How odd. Did he elaborate? Or mention why he's reading the board but isn't posting?

:watchdrama:

I wonder if the San Diego buyer is Stevester. Maybe he'll be next in line after the LA and Toronto buyers fall through.

:pc1:

I've turned a couple of folks onto this listing because they have the capacity to repair it, but not from those jurisdictions. I still don't get declining a pair of qualified eyes on the car.

maw

Personally I'm always excited to meet another fellow E500E enthusiast if for no other reason other than to shoot the breeze.
To be fair though there may be lots of other things going on the seller's life that we are not privy to.
I don't want to conjecture so I'll just let the seller post here if he so desires.

Ad has been deleted. Wonder if the new owner is a forum member and will 'fess up to the purchase...
