Hmmm... maybe! Depends on price & shipping. As you mentioned, it may exceed the weight limits. Probably ~125 lbs or so?

What's the deal with the '92 valve body and 1st gear start?

All USA-spec 400E/E420's had first gear start, if you put that valve body on a 500E/E500, it converts the 500 to full-time FGS.
