Re: Ballistic 7 s600

I'd be happy to up armor my 600 and sell it to whoever for a fraction of that!

Re: Ballistic 7 s600

Good info on the car. Car from the first link has a red paint stripe on the side, so I guess it either got repainted or its maybe a different car?

The car is wearing some SUV highway tires... the Kumho Road Venture APT.

But here's the thing... they're 104H load rated. Which is ~7900lb max. So the car is pushing the tires by nearly half a ton. Before you put anything or anyone in it.

Without doing any real research, I'd be willing to bet that there isn't a suitable tire on the market for this beast.

...and that is why the FACTORY armored 140's rolled on special wheels and tires.

Not to mention that the armor is of questionable benefit when a .22 can blow out the tires.

Ahhh, 90’s thought in action... we’ll leave that one back there with Gordon Gecko.

There are insert systems to provide "run flat" capabilities. Don't know if they are available in a size compatible with the skinny 16"ers on this W140, though.

Even if one could source the proper system, the issue of the tire load spec remains.

I highly doubt this car would ever be pressed into protective duty again, but if it's to be driven, then the tire problem needs to be solved.

:stickpoke: kind of question --- why do we reference this as a "$0.09M" car? Are we just fascinated with manipulating decimal points or something? Do we have an aversion to whole numbers or integers? I mean, I say, for example, that I typically cruise on the highway at 75 mph. I don't say that "Today I cruised at 0.0977493 mach."

:stickpoke:

Nah, it's just something I tend to do when prices get silly... and I consider six figures to be the Silly Threshold.

Dude, you’re killing the buzz. Seriously.

When E500E prices get up to $80K and above, then our forum convention has become to report asking prices in terms of $MM rather than thousands.

When you start getting into the higher-end E500Es, like 600Eric’s, the prices should very definitely & very appropriately be expressed as “$0.175M” and so forth.

I hope you had time for one of those giant omelettes at Mare Pollard’s on Mont St. Michel. At least I think that’s the name. IMOP the worlds best omelettes.

Have a great time!!

Funny you mention that, Terry. We actually ate there and saw the chef making them on the open fire as we entered the restaurant. I ended up having a three-course meal with the main being a delicious beef stew. And a glass of locally produced cider, of course.

Mare Pollard's is some restaurant it's been serving for around 200 years. We ate lunch there also but it's been sometime since I was there (2004), I can't remember exactly what I had but an omelette was part of my meal. Some of the best and most memorable dining we have had in France.
