FOR SALE FS: 3D-printed NLA rear bumper inserts, pair

Hiya Folks,

Two sets arrived this afternoon to me from Mr Inaba in Japan. The same as discussed here. These items are excellent quality and one pair will go into the Phoenix to finish her off. Contrary to what was advised in these threads, Mr Inaba is fluent in Google Translate English and he was incredibly helpful. He even threw in a gift. He has a treasure trove of parts which are easy to access.

The parts were not cheap but they are perfect. Easy transaction with email and PayPal and package arrived having had a global tour due to COVID-19 but has arrived.

Contact details for the supplier are:

I would rate him 10/10 for service and friendliness. No need for COD and ships worldwide for all those interested.

Cheers

Wow, good to hear that they are shipping globally- when I bought them they said they don’t ship outside of Japan. That should solve this NLA part issue for a lot of people! 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽

Mr Inaba was really helpful and I Paypalled him with ease. He even threw in a gift for me which will be cherished. He has a full array of spares, many of which are NLA and he was very helpful.

I purchased two sets and they are as good as the originals, if not, better.

Cheers

Perry

You do not need to read Japanese....Mrs Google Translate translates perfectly...all you need to do is copy and paste and you have a conversation.

I have used it for several parts across Japan and Europe without fail...

They are about US$160.00 for the pair plus shipping. All you have to do is email Mr. Inaba and he responds pretty quickly. Bear in mind the time difference so best time to email would be when their day starts. Here in the US East Coast best time to email them is early evening which is their early morning. Good luck.

I completely forgot I had these. Got them back in 2006 and when I moved, I put them in a separate small box that I never opened and just threw the box in the closet. Seeing this thread made the old light bulb go off and sure enough, they were still in the box. Time to get the car up in the air and fit these puppies. Btw, the slots on the inserts have two raised “bumps” at the ends, I’m guessing they are used to hear the click when being pushed into the grove inside the bumper. Is there anything on the groove to hold the inserts? Or is the grove smooth? I can foresee something being thrown back by the rear tires that might dislodge the inserts. Maybe a few holes can be drilled through the inserts slots and the bumper groove, and bolt everything down with black bolts and nuts.

It is total sacrilege granted but I intend to install a m4 rivnut in the bumper and use small stainless pan head screws (just one per side) painted black to prevent the rocking horse poo guards from falling out

If you make sure the groove is clean, they willl click into place and won’t come out. May take some physical effort to press them into place, but you’ll know it.

Some time ago when I lost one of these inserts I adopted the pedestrian insert to work with 500E bumper. It is different but not so much, you have to look into the wheel arch to see that it is not original. This insert will fit straight in, without any modifications and cover 95% of the opening, with some simple mods it will cover the whole area.

+1
Even though they click in and sit tightly, it's a good precaution to secure with a tiny screw.

Has anyone ever tried the w126 rear bumper inserts?

They are wider and could be trimmed down.

I have a few pairs of used W126 ones, but never thought of cutting them down. I think they are physically smaller (though wider) and too short to work.
