It would be more shipped outside of the USA btw...depends where it is going.

Sooooo tempting to get one framed for my office...

:deniro:

Side note, it would be cool if we could make posters or large prints of cars on this board.

I don't see why not Steve ? With a good digital image most any print shop can make a poster size print.

I'll see if a local print shop can duplicate this one. Would it be a copyright infringement? Any lawyers here? Dustin who has a 500E has a print shop by the shore actually ...hmmm.

Copyright infringement on a poster that's 20 years old and no longer for sale? I doubt MB would care, unless you start mass-producing and making a profit ;)

Oh, count me in for one :D

Great idea guys - I'm in for one, or several more if it help out to start a group buy.

Jimbo can you be in the lead on this?

:nicethread:

I have a 24" HP 6 ink plotter. If somebody sends me a high quality image file I can reproduce it. I can also get a quote from the many local print shops for high volume reproduction.

I will see what I can do on this 're-production' thing ... If it's not too much $$, I will make enough for most everyone which seems like I should make at least 50. There is hopefully economy in numbers.

If anyone already has a poster and could send JordiC what he needs...that would be great as well. I have a really good digital SLR but I don't have the set-up to properly take a photo like a professional prolly would.

A photograph of the original may not be adequate for large-dimension poster reproduction. Ideally it should be a high-res scan.

Jimbo, what are the dimensions of the original poster?

I'm also really interested for a group buy :)

Here is my little collection :

The first one is a René Staud , the other is a factory Mercedes Poster .

I haven't seen that one of the right Patrice...looks cool !

It looks like the re-production of the posters might actually fly. The 500E owner/print shop-guy says to bring one down to discuss.

Stay tooned... I will get you guys the exact dimensions if it matters (does it?) I want to say 20x30" but its in mms like all the factory posters.

Folks, keep replying here if you want one, or 2.... one caveat; only actual .036s owners are 'entitled' to receive them at this point. Any extras will be released to 'the public' LOL.

I hope to get the re-productions going this week.

Hi Jimbo,

What is the expected price?

I would like at least 2 - or some more if possible, I PM the wanted number. They can be shipped to my family members in Houston, and I pick them up on my trip over in August.

Cheers

It seems that Jimbo has happened on a lucrative a new side business of selling "Feuer und Seide" posters. Don't forget to get a tax number for the IRS !!!

Update:

Looks like I can make a run of 50, sized at 24x36" ....I'm waiting on the photographic image but was assured the quality will be on par with the original, even at this size (45% larger) . BTW, my image above isn't the greatest, the actual print is quite crisp and clear.

Price will be $40 USD shipped in the USA, a bit more overseas (send me your city and post code for an actual shipping price) I'll take paypal (you gotta pay the fee then or 'gift' the funds) or your personal check works also. Local guys? $30 in cash is king if you come pick it up.

If anyone wants 2, it'll be $75 USD shipped, 3 or more? We can talk about it.

Please let me know if you all are still interested before I pull the trigger, either here or in a PM...it's a considerable amount of coin on me up front; so I want to be sure everyone is on board and happy with what they are getting. I'd like to get a feel for the group by Friday...that cool?

I don't expect to retire off these btw LOL ...but yes, as a business owner I do have the IRS tax ID #, as well as the state one too because you know them Fokkers want their cut too.

Jimbo, do you have any of the originals for sale, or only the larger repops? I'd take one of each if you have both...

:spend:

I'm still interested in the original poster, not the new reprint, if that is still available. I sent a PM last week before this talk of reprints. Thanks!

Thanks everyone...I will update the progress as it unfolds.

It is like this. I have to get them in bulk in one size for it to be cost effective. But I'll ask and see what they think on getting multiple sizes. The original sized re-pro ones would be $30 shipped like before if I went that way with 50 units. I haven't committed to anything yet so keep the discussion open if the size/price is an issue to anyone.

Sorry, only a few 'originals' left that should be archived; for perhaps future procreation. 8-)

I've been PM'ing with Jimbo on this, and I am the culprit for giving him the wrong enlargement number. :banger:
I gave him the inverse mathematic calcs of the enlargement. The original size (16,5"x23,5") is 45% of the largest size 24"x36", which means the enlargement is 2,23x. Sorry for misleading info, however it means it will be an even greater poster on our walls!

The larger ones will have which size?

24" x 36 " (inches)

I think it will be best, and cheapest, to do the 24" x36" size....splitting the order into 2 sizes makes each size more $$ because of less quantity.

I trust what the print shop owner says that there will be no loss of accuracy with the enlargement. His equipment is the latest and greatest and his examples of similar work left me feeling good about it.

Thanx Arnt for your mathematical prowess ! So gents, for the extra dollars the posters are exponentially larger.

I have about 35 people down as wanting 1 or 2...so I will go ahead with the run of 50 at the 24x36" size. I will contact each of you when they are ready to go out.

Please continue to PM me or post here if you want.

Thanks everyone, I wouldn't be doing this without you 'on board'. 8-)

If I'm understanding this correctly, you have decided not to sell the original posters? If you decide to sell one of those, I hope you'll let us know.

NEW-made Factory 500E posters ....

The 'originals' are gone. I'm sorry ! :-( I think I said that they were gone before that's why the re-print idea came up (but I do have a few saved for myself, that's OK right ? ).

I have you down for 1 re-print flafeer. LMK if you decide against one please , but I'm pretty sure these will be just as nice, and bigger !

Anyway, I'll throw this out there: If anyone is not happy with the poster, you may return it to me for a full refund, no questions asked. How's that for service ?! 8-)

Jimbo, thanks for doing this. It puts the finishing touches on owning a 500E to have this poster displayed in the garage!
