I have seen this car. A good friend of mine was thinking of buying it. It is actually from an original slc. But only the roof and quarters are still original. everything else is glass but it is pretty nice for a drag car and it does go straight. I think I lined up with it in the turbo diesel project car earlier this year. I was so busy I was not really paying attention.

It would be cool to change the powerplant from Chebby to Mercedes. I'd think an M113 Kompressor motor pumped to ~800hp should keep it in the sub-10-second category, no? And, it would get that ugly wart off the hood.

the new, new TT 5.5 will do a G bar of power with a turbo upgrade. Seems to hold up well to boot! The V12 TT's are pretty cheap but might be a bit on the heavy side!

Those M113K's want to see internal work once you're getting around that 750 mark... I've also seen people boosting their M156's...but I have to question that to a degree as that engine was Never designed with boost in mind...and you would really want to go ahead and stud the block/make sure you have late cams/actuators blah blah blah....

but anywho, good times!

You do not need anywhere near that much power to be sub 10 in a car like this. We run flat 10s in cars that weight 4-5k pounds with around 1k in hp tq. With this car the 60' makes sub 10s pretty easy. The engine that was in it was not all that big in power. It was a nitrous engine. Probably only around 7-800 hp on spray.

I'm curious what the rolling chassis weighs, sans powertrain. Runnnig 9's would be awesome with a ~700hp M113 Kompressor and stock internals... and even funner to tell people it's a stock engine with the boost cranked up.

Im sure it was a little more than that with a 175 shot...:-) I do remember a diesel that smoked up the whole track...:-) Ill yank the 540 and glide if you guys have a good diesel combo to put into it...I play around with TDIs a little also.
