Hey how’s it going?

Quite a few of us are eating popcorn as we drool over a good example .036 being sold.

Isn't this what off topic discussion is for?
:skull:

I don't think Benzy is a spammer... just an R129 owner, so there's that...
Hey shhhh we're supposed to keep that on the down low
We share part numbers for gods sake!

I wish I had a list of the shared part numbers an ever parts that I can grab and convert.

Wondering if I can take the guts from the head light buckets, Frankenstein them into pedestrian r320 or e420 buckets. I am running out of ideas on how to create e500 headlights.

Why do you want to create e500 headlights?

Cause I own a 500e without original headlights and most light parts are nla. I do have 2 sets of lenses but not oem buckets.

Welcome to being a golden Era benz enthusiast.
They don't sell them on ebay or other classic mercedes suppliers? I bought brand new euro spec OEM R129 lights and also R107 lights from ebay. I'm surprised W124 doesn't have supplier for headlights.
It's not a Mercedes part if that's what you're after though but it is built the same (OEM quality) and looks amazing and cost $1,000+

Not familiar with t129 oem lights. Are they the same in functionality as the .036 face lifted head lights,. If they are, I can rewire regular (pedestrian e320 and e420 buckets) withe the r129 innards.

Someone here has done what I am aspiring to do. They have done it with the pre-face lifted 500e headlights. But no documentation on creating post face lifted buckets, but I will figure it out eventually.

Stevester, the lenses are the hard part. If you have correct 036 RHT lenses you can make a set of lights that are functionally equivalent to original 036 lights. The wiring inside is the same, the only difference may be is the shields on the reflectors. What exact lenses / buckets do you have, and what are you trying to make?

I have euro spec face lifted lenses.
I bought these off a member who bought complete face lifted euro spec headlights.
He sold me the lenses.

I'd like to make what ever I can with these.
I don't need to make euro headlights necessarily.. I realize that I would want to change the hood to a face lifted hood.

I have pedestrian e320/e420 bucks.
I have even considered doing bumper fog lamp delete, not related to making headlights, but for a different look.

I do plan on creating standard us spec pre face lifted 500e headlights, if I can ever get both drivers side and passenger side plastic head light doors, one is nla right now.

Thanks for any input.

To create pre face lifted us spec 500e headlights, I already have pre face lifted pedestrian head lights from a 300e I believe.

Like I said, I just need the plastic doors for both sides.

Steve, since you have the correct Euro E500 lenses, you can make a set of lights that will work great. Use the pedestrian buckets, and remove the metal shield over the H3 bulb. Install the 036 lenses. Assuming these are USA-spec buckets you won't have city light function or vacuum level adjust, but they will otherwise be very close in operation to 1994 E500 USA headlights.

Creating pre-facelift (500E) USA-spec lights is a bit more of a challenge now that the plastic doors are NLA, and used ones are both rare and often in poor condition.

Ok. ..memory serves me better today. I have a set of used US spec E500 complete head lights I purchased from a member.
As a hoarder ages, he forgets what he has and sometimes misplaces things.

Time for me to get organized to the level of GSXR and the Honcho.

I got these for a planned face lift that hasn't happened. So glad I kept these.

All of a sudden...I am a big fan of the face lift.

Awesome! Even better if you can source all the parts for the matching wipers!

:124:

Oh no! The search continues.
I am assuming the wipers are unobtanium.
Nah, just really difficult to find complete. Any 1994-95 USA model 124 wipers are what you need. The arms & refill blades are NLA so you need to get everything used. If the rubber inserts are worn, those can be refilled as long as you have the plastic blade (details here).

I had luck scrounging car-part for wipers. I ended up getting a deal on facelift headlights WITH wipers (I think like $200) but it took a lot of calling around. I have them as spares for scrounging parts from and got them for more or less the going rate of Euro/Refresh wipers alone.

FYI - bench test the wipers before installing. Apply a piece of masking tape to the shaft to make it easier to view the movement. Test each separately. Better to find out if they work before installing everything on the car. There's a thread with info on opening them up for repair if needed, unfortunately the electronics are potted so it's really difficult to fix electrical issues.
