HOW ABOUT THIS FOR A BIT OF DISTINCTION!?

If that's the case, then that car can only be mine. No others are confirmed to exist here.

Currently it is in the workshop for major mechanical work, following which it goes to a body shop for repair of minor accident damage to the front LHS fender.

Can your friend share any details of how they came to take the photo?

My friend is currently on a "car enthusiasts " touring holiday of NZ. On Sat 7th Feb he visited a classic car show in Auckland, where he took the photo.

Thanks very much. That plate is not registered in NZ. However, it is very interesting to have confirmation of the rumour there was another 036 in NZ. I'll follow up with the Benz club to see if I can get in touch with the owner.

I don't suppose anyone here knows how this car got to Japan in the first place, or its history while there?

It was imported to NZ in 2016. Unfortunately, I have no documentation of its history.
