J Auto in Tokyo

I was fortunate to visit J Auto in Tokyo recently, a 23000 km 500E was sitting there taunting me. There was an E60 and a 500E with a carbon fibre roof. Inside the store were piles of goodies, 129 style console wood, stacks of monoblocks, 4 seat rear seats and pretty much whatever you wanted. Worth a visit, nice guy there with limited English but better than my Japanese.

I’ve known about J Auto for many years now, I believe the store goes back to the 90s when these cars were first released, so they’re very well known and regarded. The service center is across the street.

I did not manage to visit them during my last trip to Tokyo - we have the wife to blame for that 🤣

I’ve always been curious on whether the parts on display in the showroom are actually available for purchase? Did you manage to speak to them about that?

There is a rumour those parts on display would only exclusively be installed by J Auto on customer cars. If they are available for purchase, my next return trip may have a pallet load of 036 parts in tow!

I think you are correct about the parts, they don't really want to sell them to customers unless they install them at vast cost.
I visited them several years ago with my Japanese wife, & we couldn't seem to get any straight answers, even when language was not a problem.
