Keys suitcase

I have seen these before along with a similar type of case that holds spare bulbs. They were not available in the US though.

I've got the bulb one for a few of my cars, but none of these..something else I need to find and buy...greeeaaat.:-P

Speaking of keys....when the .036 was first sold how many original keys came with the car? Also, is a dealer still the only place one can go to get duplicate keys?

The dealer is the only place you can get correct laser-cut steel keys, coded to your VIN. They're roughly $20-$25 each. Or, buy a new ignition lock cylinder and it will come with a new master key as a bonus. The ignition lock generally needs replacement after 20+ years.

Two master keys (rectangular keys) and one valet key (round head).

Hi,
I have the two remote control and the left key for sure.
But I think I also have the right key with the plastic surround...somewhere.
I find this case cool ; at least, you know where the keys are.

Do you happen to know the p/n? Price? Is this a DIY job for a novice?
The VIN-coded lock is p/n 126-460-02-04, current MSRP is $75. You will need to provide a copy of your registration and possibly driver's license as proof of ownership, and you may not be able to get it mail order (not sure if they'll take faxed copies of the docs). It's a relatively easy DIY, you can make the special tool from a wire coat hanger, or buy the cheapy kits on eBay that include the U-shaped wire. Takes about 5 minutes to swap. There are probably some good pictorials on the other MB forums.

Here is the official FSM procedure for the lock R&R:
