Me neither - I thought that was only relevant for the pre-facelift wheels.
yeah or for me not about preface or not...but rather the sportline steeringwheel with the narrow bottom spokes beeing the "Sportline " steeringwheel, and IT beeing the only one measuring 390. Never noticed that about the steeringwheel having the wider bottom spokes. I just checked out the standard steeringwheel in my car now,and it also says 390..so thats pretty cool. Always cool to learn new stuff :)

Cool indeed! The first few years of Sportline-optioned cars had the same design steering wheel as the other cars, but in 390mm instead of 400mm (and always in leather). After the introduction of the "newer" steering wheels in '91 I thought the two bottom spokes being close together or wider apart was the sure sign of a steering wheel being 390mm or 400mm, but now that I think about it I recently heard someone mention that the '92 Sportlines without airbag had a one-year-only style of steering wheels, as these are indeed shaped with spokes close together (ie in the "new" design). I suspect they needed longer time to have airbags manufactured than anticipated 😅

Spokes close together (later Sportline wheel, as of roughly Jan-1992 production) is always 390mm.

Spokes far apart was available in 390mm (Sportline) and 400mm (standard).

:jono:

Indeed, a bit clumsy writing from my side there, but that was exactly my point; spokes close together is 390mm and the other are 400mm - but not anymore! Worlds are colliding!
