Lower oil pan removing problems.

Hi,to take out lover oil pan on c140, i must lift the engine up! How much i can lift it up? Do i must let loose engine mounts or they can strech?I need like 10 cm playing ground to get the bolts. Thank you.

@Rainz500,
I did this job on my 124036 500E to change my oil level probe to stop an oil leak without removing a motor mount. Somehow I finagled the oil pan out but it’s been to long since I did that job.

I’ve never seen the underside of a 140 but 10cm is almost 4 inches I would say you should at least unbolt one motor mount. What seems to be blocking removal?

Probably need to unbolt both sides. Just remove the 2 lower bolts on each mount with 13mm hex head.

Just lift the engine enough to access the pan bolts. Maybe an inch or two at the most. You'll know if the engine stops moving upward...

:duck:

Can I lift the engine by the very oil pan I want to remove, or is the engine so heavy that I might damage the pan?
There are frame,to lift engine but w140 is made that way,that there are no place to but the frame.mootori tõstmise tala.jpg

Well,i did this job today! Lift the engine with engine crane and rest was pretty easy,enough space ! There was no pieces of rails in pan,but i found 9 plastic round pieces-the plastic oil tube missing parts! And nasty sludge! Seemslike old oil residue setteling from years! No metal,thank god! I put new Elring casket with sealant,cose pan surface wasnt good imho! Strange was,that i had to tighten the bolts like 4 times-first handtighten,then 5 nm,and then final 9nm! But after about 1 hour ,i check bolts and few bolts needed again overtightening with 9nm?!
Passenger side engine mount was very slappy,probably broken,driver side was tight and good! Probably im gonna change both them! And there my question-OE is nla,but what say you about Febi,Swag and Meyle mounts? All them German made. My toughts is go with Meyle. What do you recommend i choose from those three brands? Can anyone please, has some ifo about mounts part numbers to my 119.980 and gearbox mount part number? Thank you

FCP euro dont show oe mounts! Corteco and lemforder is nla. Our dealer have only one in storage and that is last one and 450 euro! If im right,then part number is 1402402217. Found from ebay few too like 400 eur! 900 for two mounts!
Febi and meyle is 40 eur in our shops and they are hydraulic mounts! Vaico pure rubber! I dont have problem with lasting,if they last least 2-3 years ,im ok with that but vibration is what i am afraid of!

Genuine/OE should still be available for 1402402217 from any dealership. See below. These are hydraulic mounts, as you stated.

Aftermarket may be rubber only (not hydraulic) and are cheap Chinese replicas. They may last 2-3 years, but as you mentioned, there may be higher vibration / NVH with the cheaper mounts. The OE mounts should last another 10-20 years / 100kmi+. FCP has them but at a higher price vs discount dealerships.
